For my English class we have to give a speech and one of the catagories for it was an interest/hobby in our life. So I figure hey why not trials no one else probably hardly knows about let alone will do theirs on it. The only catch to doing the speech is turning in a bunch of research on the choosen topic. So I was wondering if you guys could give me some spots to start my searching for info. I need places that can give me history type stuff as well as more current info on the way competitions are held and the way the bikes are and so on. Along with internet sites I also have to have one printed or non web based source. I already know of a few trials sites (biketrials.com, trials-online.com) that have some of this kind of info but if you know of any more or a book or something let me know. Thanks much for any help its greatly appreciated.

If you can get a hold of a copy of the Movie "Joe kid on a Stingray" it has some good info. Its all about the history of BMX but a lot of the styles and tricks that are universal in Mountain biking and BMX are shown as well as the way the bikes have changed. I think it would be a decent source.

Im sure you've already done this but just google 'the history of bike trials'.
Im sure you'll get some resources.

http://www.spiffie.com/trials/history.html

looked to be a good link. otherwise, just check the forums sign up and shoot a pm to the mods. I'm guessing they have been around for a while if they have a site up to accomodate everyone. Could always try emailing some of the big trials guys and see what you get back in return. I've email Leech before and got a responce so, who knows. Try shooting a message to Hans Rey. He got alot of things going back in the day.

John will be back on here tomorrow or Wed and have alot to say. Hope that might give you a bit to start with or, none at all.

Hahah....I guess you could say I do....Thanks for reminding me of my old schoolness.

Phil, depending on what you might already have, feel free to give me a shout via PM or email. I'll see what I can do.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of the people that helped out (John especially, I sited you as a resource during my speech) I gave the speech today and it went very well. I had to have a visual aid so I decided that I should just bring in the whole bike. Got a few funny looks wheeling it through the halls. I even was able to throw in a few demo of the basic moves/techniques, (trackstand, hopping, pivoting, and pedal kicking) now I can say that instead of just thinking about riding my bike during class that I actually got to ride in the middle of class, it was sweet. should have see a couple of the kids the way their eyes were popping out after i pedal kicked across the front of the room, I just thought man if only they could watch someone who's really good do something besides a basic pedal kick. Thanks again to everyone for the input. Phil
