True!!

The land along Pt. Douglas Rd. heading north is already in Battle Creek's posession. The last of the home occupants along that road is soon to vacate. Once that happens the park has plans to build a connector trail from the main part of the park to the river overlook off of Burns road. This will be a Regional Park/Nat'l Park Service joint effort as the bluffs in this area are under NPS jurisdiction as well. We may have a key role in this trail. More info will come as the details are worked out.

Warning: I'm not much of a DH/FR guy so I may be off track with this...

I remember at the trailbuilding class at Steeplechase last year, Ned mentioned that the hardest (but important part) to building a good downhill trail was the need for a shuttle route back up to the top.

I also know that the DH/FR guys in the Twin Cities don't have many places to ride...legally.

Is a DH/FR course at Battle Creek possible?

The new land at Battle Creek offers some good steep hills and a convenient shuttle route.

Shuttle Route:
Pick Up at Parking Lot (off of 61)
South on Point Douglas Road
East on Lower Afton Road
North on Battle Creek Road
West on Upper Afton Road
South on White Bear Ave.
Drop off at C St.

This is a 2 mile route without any major roads.

The drop off point is an existing park entrance that leads to the large dirt mound at the top of the ravine along the existing west side trails.

how's it going everyone? I live in downtown st. paul. I just wanted to let anyone that matters know that i would happily help out in building some trail on this newly aquired land(especially if its gonna be a dh course). let me know, send me a PM if you need too.
