Yay! :banana:

My hope for the next two races is to have enough ladies show up that I don't place -- the last race was a serious detriment to my reputation. ;)

I knew I liked the cold. Everyone keeps telling me how miserable it is.....little do they know.....:)

Darn it, Jay. I would love to be there but I am off to Taipei for 8 days leaving that week.

Too bad for me. I hope the races are as successful as the Chilly Chili races. You have to beat 91 people.

Rumor has it the Chilly Chili series will be 4 races next year. Hey, ya gotta get out of the house somehow.

Sorry Mara... Chuck isn't going to be able to make it!!:) Although even if he was, I'd doubt he'd finish (at all!!) ahead of you!!:)

So... I have 91 to beat hu?? Hmmmmmm... them is some big numbers you're throwing out there Chuck. Maybe I'll ask the folks at MORC...

What would it take to get you to show up and race March 4th and 11th??

* Semi warm temps??
* A course that is second to none??
* Pony rides for the kids??
* A 'petting zoo' with the local wildlife??
* Ice fishing workshops... in the middle of the course??
* Prizes for everyone??
* Hundreds if not thousands of dollars for payouts??
* A cook-out for everyone on March 11th??
* Guaranteed more fun than you can shake an ice fishing pole at??

Tell me what you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I want is a course with a few more turns to really test the bike handling skills. A longer lap would be good so it is easier to keep track of where people are in the standings.

It is to bad actually, the Coffee Mill Downhill Race is on the 4th so I will only be able to make it out to the race on the 11th.

I would say that 60's like the last race last year would be bad, but a costume contest ( which I won :banana: and got multiple published exposure from:hit: ) would have to be held!

The dogs and burgers last year were cool too, but I think a BYO might work well also.

What we really need is some snow that we can have some bermed corners and JUMPS to ride. Maybe a Plunge pool to allow you to finish and take first place by only riding one lap and taking the plunge. You know, techincal features that if you attempt and make, allow you to get ahead of people taking the "easy" way around the course.

I have lots of ideas, but no time to help...sorry.

See you all out there on the 11th.

I have to take every advantage I can get. I'm certainly not going to win on legs and lungs.

I think we need to have a tightest turn / most lean contest.

Nice smooth section of ice and see who can lay the bike over the farthest on their studs.

I'll challenge you any day Ted to a cornering contest.

Hmmmm? Race downhill on a snowy ski hill or race on a frozen lake with a bunch of whako's??

I will take the whako's...........:)

Here are some more details:

* The Crit-Cross-Croppy Ice Races will take place on March 4th and 11th. More details available at www.silvercycling.org (http://www.silvercycling.org).

* No vehicles will be allowed on the ice/lake. This is NOT a safety concern, but a request of the Sheriff's dept. With all ice houses being required to be pulled off by this weekend, they'd just rather not have anything (cars, trucks, etc.) out on the ice for the rest of the year.

* Parking will possibility be cramped. I'll do my best to make sure the parking lot by the boat launch isn't filled up with ice houses. Please park sparingly as to not take up any more space than you need. There is an additional parking lot along Maple Island Road (frontage road running on the east side of #35) just above of the bay area where the course will be. There is also some parking in a park at the end of Crystal Lake Circle (continue straight on Crystal Lake Road heading east). I'll keep checking into other parking options.

* I've 'ordered' moderate temperatures... warm enough to be comfortable, cold enough so the ice/lake will be safe.

* Course design is going to be similar to the earlier ice races... mostly on the lake with a few on-land areas/loops. If we happen to get any snow between now and the 4th, that will open up many more options.

Cook-out on the 11th!! Food, drink, and good cheer provided to everyone at no cost!!!!

More 'stuff' as it becomes available.

Take Care!!

Do you have to race both of the weekends? I am just planning to do it for fun but I can only make the 11th.

Nope... not at all!! Race whatever you can. Of the two weekends, the 11th should be the most 'FUN' with a post-race cook-out.

Races are ON!! I may have over-done the request for warm weather... oh well. Here is a final list of things to consider and plan on.

Course: I planned on plowing the course yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately there was little to nothing to plow. The course will be laid out tonight and Saturday morning using stakes, ribbon, and paint. It will consist of 75% on the lake (ice) and 25% on trails/single track. There will be one climb. With the warm and freezing conditions, expect the lake part of the course to be slick (both for racers and spectators).

Registration: A tent and table will be set-up in the parking lot by the boat launch. It's a short bike ride walk down the bike path or on the lake to where the course will be (same general location as last year).

Parking: There should be enough space at the boat ramp and parking lot along the frontage road. Please do not take up any more space than you need... things will be 'snug'.

See everyone on Saturday!!

Wow, just found this. I'm pretty sure that I'm coming next saturday...cant wait! How long is the race?

How long is the race?
It's for a duration, instead of distance. They wait until you do a bunch of laps, when they see that you are about to die they say "4 laps to go!"......or something like that.....:)

Awesome races today! Great course!

Thanks to all the volunteers etc. Too bad no one showed up. Wonder what was up....

Hopefully the weather will cooperate enough to have next week's races.

How was the single speed for the A race?

Thanks for the race! I liked the course a lot. Even some dirt singletrack in this one. Oh, how I miss singletrack this time of year.

I got a flat in the second race. When I took the tube out, it wasn't my studs that caused the flat. The valve stem ripped off of the tube......strange.
