Hi, I'm posting this to see if anyone using these boards/this site does any work with the St Cloud area trails. I've been told that it's been quiet around here regarding work on the Plum Creek Trail but there is also a new Singletrack trail near where the Greystone races are held. I don't have further info on this trail but thought this would be one place to check. I intend to talk with someone at Out n About Gear in St Cloud who I've been told does some grass roots type work with it. I'm looking to help out with trail maintenance and enjoyment of this new trail...I've yet to see it but that should end soon enough.

Just thought I'd toss this out there.
Dave.

Get a hold of Mike Schroden at Out N About Gear, he is a leader up in that area. Last time i swung up there to chat with him he was the guying doing some work up that way. he'd be the guy to talk to. He's also the one of the floor managers I believe. Super cool guy competed in Red Bull Divide and Conquer for us last year.

A few years back, Bob Mueller and the BLAST crew cut some real nice trails in Birch Lakes State Forest, about a half-hour west of St. Cloud and north of Melrose. (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_forests/sft00007/index.html) the trails are still good, although they are somewhat neglected. We plan on having a Backcountry crew do a work day up there sometime in May and clear things up. There is a real nice DNR campground at the east end of the bike trails. Birch Lakes is one of the two smallest state forests in MN, (623 acres) so there are are not a lot of miles, but they are very nice trails. The BLAST guys did a great job.

Backcountry Patrol has a couple members in St. Cloud, so we have kind-of adopted it, but not to the level of our Chippewa trails. We are planning to put more time an effort in there this year, though.

The trails should be ridable by mid-May. I will post it on the MORC site when it is open.

Ride safe,

Howdy,

The Mid-Minnesota Cycling Club is who did the work on the Greystone Trails, super great group of people. There will probably be a spring gathering of the crew and a meeting for this years plans. Keep checking the website for updates or E-mail me at danburros@warpdriveonline.com and I'll try and keep you in the loop for information.
