Post up some specs and pics of you Trials bikes here.

I have a late 90's ROSS Mod bike. it's pretty much stock and has lower end parts on it, but it's a blast to ride.

Back in the late 80's to about the mid 90's, I owned a Haro Response trials bike. That was a fun bike, but a lot heavier than today's trials bikes.

I found a picture of my older Mod bike. It really needs new cranks and some better brakes. Anyone have stuff they want to get rid of cheap or for free, let me know.

Crazy coincedence but I post something on a photography board yesterday and someone respons asking me if I used to ride trials. I respond yes, I used to and ask why he asked. Turns out he recognized my username from a Trials List serve I used to be on like eight years ago! Talk about a memory!

Bike's I've owned but no longer do.

I used to do some trials riding years ago, it was mostly urban assault style stuff, downtown and around the U. I had a Cannondale M800 Beast of the East. It was a great bike, I was running a 16 speed set up (2 up front, 8 in the back) so I could still pedal all the way downtown from St. Louis Park and thrash around and then ride back. I finally sold the bike a few years ago, as I would get super sore wrists after every assault session. Well, sore wrists, and I ended up breaking my elbow one night while downtown on a particularly "intoxicating" night ride :hit: .

Proof you should never drink and ride a bicycle. If you were driving, you probably would not have broken your elbow.....:p

LOL.........:D

Here is my Brisa in its current state. I have been playing around with my stem/bar combo.

Here is my purely street trials setup. Shorter stem..

I like how you mounted the gripshift inside of the brake - out of the way, but still accessible. Good idea.

No, just one. It was only finished recently. The Caisso was to replace the woodman, which will now be the loaner bike and eventually for sale.

Heres a couple pics of my ride, a Monty 219 X Alp, that I finally got taken. Nothing too fancy but its a good begginer bike which is all I need for the time being.

If you ever need help with the Magura stuff, give me a shout!

ya i think its actually a rear that was put on there by the first owner but i've only had it for part of a year and have had the time to change/shorten it. but when i do does any one know (John maybe) can i just cut the existing line or do i have to get a whole new one and install it instead?

Trialsaddict
02-26-2006, 09:33 PM
No need to buy new cable. You can just shorten the exsisting line. You will however, need to rebleed the system. A bleed kit and fluid will be needed, as well as a new compression olive. You can either buy a bleed kit (which I suggest if you are good with fixing bikes) or we might be able to help ya out. Most shops will charge waaaay too much for a simple thing like that.

bikeforlife
02-27-2006, 02:35 PM
ya i figured i'd have to rebleed and though about getting a kit since i'm pretty good with fixing/up keep stuff. i haven't ever done full bleed by myself but i've helped out so i know the basic idea but i was wondering if it is too much different than a mtn bike disk brake. do you have to do anything speacial since the maguras have a seperate piston on either side.

Phil, I have a couple of the olive's if you need one. Bleeding Magura rim brakes is almost the same as Hydro disc. Just follow what Magura has to say about changing fluid. Post up if you need the compression olive.

Trialsaddict
02-27-2006, 08:03 PM
Yeah, its about the same. If you need any help, let me know...but yeah, get a kit. You'll use it more than once for sure! If you're not sure where to get one, go to webcyclery. :)
