Is there any plan for trail work at Battle Creek this year?

Yup.

There will be numerous sessions this year. There are a number of problem spots that need to be worked on and we also have a few plans for some new things. I will post work days as things dry out a bit in the spring. Mark your calendar now though for the Earth Day Clean-up at BC Saturday morning April 22. More details on that as I know more.

Thanks for the interest!

Thanks.

I've been riding BC for about 5 years and noticed that it really started to fall apart last year...I figure I owe the trail some labor.

Since I work at 3M, I should be able to help out. I'll look for some stuff in the spring.

I did the Earth Day clean up last year (in the rain) and will plan on it again this year.

Troy - Thanks, BC needs a little TLC

AS I was riding yesterday, I noticed several spots with Cross Country ski map signs on the trail. Will there ever be mtn biking trail signs on the trails?

Thanks!

On the "skull and bones" trail where there's a 180 degree switchback I noticed a metal bar protruding about 4 or 5 inches above the timbers it's holding in place. If someone took a spill, it could cause a serious injury. I put a large stone on top of the timber as a temporary safeguard.

I hope to be at the trail maintenance get-together next Monday, May 22, but if I'm not I suggest someone bring a hacksaw to shorten it or put something over the protruding bar. Even pounding it in to the ground more may help.

Thanks for the updates you guys!

That nasty pipe coming out of the ground is something that I plan on addressing soon. Definitely at trail work if not before. I think we're talking about the same thing.

The 22nd we'll do some general maintenance, no new trail. We'll clear any deadfall and trim back overgrowth. Look forward to seeing people out there!
