The ice races scheduled for Feb. 18th and 25th on Crystal Lake will be postponed until a later date. Weather will be the deciding factor... when the ice is safe, we will race!!. More details will follow as they become available.

See Jay.
That is why you have to have your races in January before the warm months begin.

Ooooooh Chuckles... YOURS is coming!!:) See, Chuck (also known as Mr. Stacia) and I like to talk a lot of smack to each other about these ice races... who is going to beat who, who's going to be faster, who's going to... etc., etc., etc. Truth be told, ol' Chuckles and I haven't raced on the ice (or most anywhere else for that matter) for 2+ years!! We're O-L-D... and worst (or best) of all, we both know it!!:( So these ice races are a way for us to compete, without really having to compete.

I gotta give Chuck his due props... 90+ participants for the first ice race of the season is really raising the bar!! But I think I can beat that. Actually, I KNOW I can beat that!!:)

I have no doubt you can beat it O-L-D man. You guys are offering up food. Who can turn that down? Shoot for $10 I will show up for a lap just to get a burger and brat.

You have a lot to learn about course set up, however. I saw you hiding in your truck at our races with the binoculars checking out our course.

Let me know when you races get rescheduled, cuz I would love to come down and watch the festivities. I think 80-90 riders per race will be a piece of cake.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!
I even took vacation from work for these!
I missed the first Ice Race this year because of my son's hockey.
His ice times would have allowed him to race both of these.
Oh well, we'll just keep our fingers crossed.

Word on the street says the races are cancelled for sure. The Sheriff's Dept. has declared the ice unsafe and no races will be held. Jay can confirm that once his arthritis medicine kicks in and he can type with his good hand.

Any more news? The weather's been cold (below freezing continuously) for days with more to come.

Chuck is correct... well, kinda correct. The Sheriff dept. still hasn't given 'go' for ice thickness/safety. Although we've had some cold weather lately, we still had about 2-3+ weeks of well above freezing temps. It will take some time to rebuild the ice thickness. The 18th and 25th dates will def. not take place. Look for two Saturdays in the first part of March... possibly the 4th and 11th. A lot will depend of below freezing tempts during the day and WELL below freezing at night. More info will be posted mid next week.

PS If anyone fishes on Crystal, or knows someone who does, exact ice thickness measurements would be VERY helpful!!!!!!

EDIT: I almost forgot... Chuck, even with only one good hand, that is still more than enough to whoooop-up on you... arthritis meds not withstanding!!!!!!:)

Take Care!!

I certainly will!!

With the recent bout of cold stuff, I'd guess the ice on Crystal would be plenty thick/safe. However, I'd like to be sure before anything gets rolling. Still waiting to hear from the Sheriff's dept.

Chuck... with lack of snow cover, I will likely need to borrow some (if not all) of your stakes to mark-out the course. Bounce me an e-mail or give me a ring.

Take Care!!
