Well, everybody, Just to keep you informed my fellow race derictors and I are wondering on the awards. The question is this. Do you the racers like the pint glasses or would you rather see medals for the awards?

I vote for the pint glasses...not that it really matters to this mid-pack finisher!

I vote for medals.

But not the small little things we've had in the past. We need some big ass pimp style medals, Italian chest hair showing, MEDALS.

Think of the Leadville race. They have big ass belt buckels. I know there's budget constraints, but if there's something unique that you can give...

I would say pint glasses. I could just see a medal being cool for about a month, then getting put away, I guess I would have nowhere to put up a medal nor a significant other that would let me... however whenever I have the guys over for drinks, poker, whatnot I could drink my tasty beverage in my pint glass and relive the story over and over again.... wait maybe that's a bad idea.... damn gloating friends......

Get a hold of Beau Layman from Mankato, he makes artwork out of bicycle parts. He's on these forums occasionally. He made some really bitchin' medals for the greenman downhill out of chain and cassette cogs, and also trophies for the morc film festival. The guys got skills, he'd probably be willing to be contracted to make some stuff.

Maybe Scott H has a pic of his trophy from the film festival.

Pete has the right idea. Get a hold of Beau.

I believe he donated the awards for Greenman too.

We've had pint glasses the last two years, it would be cool to change it up.

If budget-able I like the arts medals/trophy thing. Great idea!!!

If item is 3D or uniuqe I'll add it to my trophy stash area. If it's a flat pewney medal with a simple name sticker, then not it's worthy or I loose it. For example, I'm not sure where my medal for 05 overall is....I think it's in an envelope in drawer somewhere. Hmmm, I better go find it and move it. Cheers.

Why thank you Pete! I don't have a pic of the MORC FF awards, Adam was SUPPOSE to take a pic of one for me. ;)

Here's the others though. These should last at least 3 months before they go to the attic!

Greenman down medals- Made from a BMX Freewheel, so they spin either way and provide maximum 'bling' at any MTB event.

I liked the pint glasses, but I don't know how many of them a person actually needs. Since the same people generally end up on the podium race after race it might be cool if there were some unique things given. I have always liked the idea of a free t-shirt. It commemorates the race and is usable on a day to day basis.

Maybe something bike usable, a jersery would be too expensive so we are going with socks, Take a look at my championship socks, or sock in my case because my socks tend to get divorced.
