Night XC Skiing - Leb (East) Tues 12/20 7pm. Meet at the visitor center, plan to be on the trail at 7pm.
I'm going to give it a try. I plan to wear my bike helmet as a way to hold the light. My wife will likely also join us, so the pace will be easy.
Depending on who shows up, we can pick a distance. The full loop is around 10k.
This is a classic skiing only area. I was there both days this weekend, and conditions are perfect.
The Visitor Center is the place where the MORC Summit meetings were held this fall. On Cliff Road, about a mile east of Lexington. Take the long driveway. We'll meet in the parking lot.

I will see what I can do to get away, but will be tough with the holiday approaching.

Great. Hope to see you there. Mine will be the vehicle that is in the parking lot at 7pm. I'll park near the trail where the driveway meets the parking lot.
I'll be out of the office Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to check this thread when I get home from work. I plan to ski even if it is by myself. It is supposed to warm up, so it should be nice skiing.
Blue Extra.
7:00 pm.

I'll be there. The last time I skied there, about 15 years ago, I picked up two stress fractures in my neck. Hope it goes better this time.

Don, I wouldn't worry about it. They really "dumbed down" the trails at Leb over the last 3 years. The big scary downhills are now gone, with the exception of the return to the middle parking lot. For us, that would just be an up and back, so I plan to skip that one tonight.
See you tonight.

I think I can be there for skiing. Per instructions from my wife I will not have time for much if any post-ski refreshments. Please pardon my very poor Nordic skills.

Lebanon Hills has a stacked loop system, so we can decide on the trail how much to do. Even at a slow pace, we can get the outer main loop done in about an hour and a half. Sounds like my wife is going to not join us this week. She's scurrying in prep for vacation. (I don't understand. Just wash some underwear and throw it in your bag.) See you tonight. (I'll be away from the computer all afternoon.) Weather forecast for 7pm is 12 degrees and clear. So, it should be nice conditions using either Blue Extra or maybe Green wax.

I am sure there have been times when she said just hook a damn battery to a light bulb.....

Perfect ski conditions last night. That was fun. When we were starting out, we saw a couple other skiers just finishing up. When they saw Don's HID and my monster light, they yelled something about them having "Light Envy". I think I might keep going with Tuesday night skiing as long as there are decent ski conditions. We'd been waiting 4 years for this good snow. It's nice to be able to get out and enjoy it. Jeff, I'd put that little headlamp back in the drawer, and go with your monster helmet light.

I'd like to be able to use the HID headlamp without wearing the bike helmet on the ski trail. (Based on last night I think I need every advantage in order to keep up with you and Don.) Niterider sells an elastic headband with the correct mount for the headlamp, but I'm not paying $30 for it. Unless I come up with something else, I suppose the bike helmet is the way to go.

For me, the helmet was nice and comfortable. Maybe you could try hooking the light onto a baseball cap or visor.

Or you could have Bob make a set of tandem skis and jump on with him and use that light he has to land small planes.:D

Or do like they do on Star Trek and hook a niterider up to your wrist when you go on away missions... er, I mean snow missions.
