Provided the ground has had a chance to freeze up again, I say we ride at 7:00 pm. This will give people more time to get there in traffic.
The location will be Harmon if the wind dies down or Leb if it is still windy. We can vote on this later today.
This should be the first good test of studdlyness for the season.

I dunno.. sounds scary to be riding on the snow on the ice and at night. I'll get the lights plugged in though just in case...
I have my new tires on order so I can make up some meaner winter tires than my nokians.

I'm in. :cheesy:
Like Ted said, *IF* the wind keeps up, Harmon/salem might be a bit chilly, so we should go to Leb.
However, if the wind dies down, we should keep with the tradition. Who knows? Maybe James will even show up for one of his own rides. ;)
The 7pm prediction is for 22 degrees, and 12mph wind.
John, you'll find that the Nokian extremes are excellent on ice. You already know that they handle snow reasonably well. I rode all last winter on Nokian Extremes. IMO, they are the best tires you can buy. If they were available as a 29er, I would have seriously considered going with them rather than home-brew. Their 700c tire is not nearly as nice or wide.

John, this is the pattern I am using to stud the timberwolf tires. I put the large head 1/2" screws in all the locations on the front and will probably do the same on the rear. The screws on the middle 3 lugs are getting close to being too long, but I am going to give them a try. I think the large head on these screws will help support having more screw sticking out. I actually used bolt cutters to trim the centerline screws by about 1/8" but it was probably unnecesary.
There are 40 repeats of the pattern which gives 280 screws for the front and 160 for the rear. You could go all out and put the 280 in the rear if you have the clearance. 2 boxes of the screws I showed you will be plenty.

Let me get back to you on Harmon.
My back yard was still mushie this morning under the snow.
With all the rain we got, I am not sure if the ground will be frozen enough to not cause damage tonight.
I'll swing by and check on my way home from work. Will post up here by 5:00pm.

Cool, let us know. We can always ride tomorrow night instead - and we do have Thursday nights as usual at Leb - should be good and frozen by then.

Hey All,
You might want to hold off at least for 24 hours before hitting the trails.
The bare dirt under the snow is still very soft from all the rain and with the long stretch of cold wetaher coming, we will form permanant ruts if we try to ride.
The snow is acting as an insulator and keeping the ground from freezing as quickly as it would without the snow cover.
See everyone out Thursday night.

Okay. Thanks for the report. I assume that Leb won't be any better, so I'm skipping it tonight.
Here's my suggestion:
Harmon (Salem) on Wednesday night. James can pick the time.
Leb on Thursday night. (if they don't close the park) John can pick the time.
