Best for both,

Blue Max in Burnsville. County Road 42 and Hwy 11. individual building west across hwy 11 from the old Erik's location.

Best selection of beer and Single Malts in the cities. >1200 beer the last time I was there and a huge selection of Single Malts. $12 all the way up to 4 digit priced bottles.

Surydyks (sp?) is another in Minneapolis that has a good selection of beer, wine and cheese.

And haskalls (SP?) - they have LOTs of really good high quality wines and some less common of the more 'sophisticated' alcohol varieties (scotches, whiskeys, vodkas, gins, etc).

Yup, I think a former president by the name of Clinton set the standards on that issue.

So I see you're starting to Christmas shop for me!

You may also want to try out the Liquor Depot on Washington in downtown Mpls. The place has a great selection of everything and hosts some killer FREE tastings on everything from wine to whiskey. Too bad we just missed the single malt scotch tasting about two weeks ago.

I've never been to Blue Max but may well stop in there tonight and check it out. I'll be in the Burnsville area to pick up some trail tools so it'd be a good opportunity to swiing in.

I have been there a couple of times. It's not far from my work and it's got a darn good selection. I am mostly a beer guy though. Although, the Scotch JJ let me try was pretty darn good......:)

have to politicize things eh?;)

BTW - I don't think Billy Boy set the standard. That certain other person did. Sounded like a waste of an otherwise perfectly good cigar!

So, who's on point to organize the tasting - James or JJ? Will the real scotchy scotch scotch drinker please stand up?

Had to take my shot I've been staying out of the mess lately.

Blue Max has some unique and expensive items well worth the time if your looking to find someting different. Just looking for some other stores to look through when I get to the cities next.

Well if we have a little xmas party I'd bring a bottle or two.

Troy that was Thunderbird you liked? :D

Blue Max has an insane number of imported beers arranged by country. The last time I was there I spent over an hour window shopping before I headed for the checkout.
Two thumbs Up for Blue Max

not wanting to completely thread-jack, but stereotypically microbrews and mountain bikers go hand in hand, I fit this stereotype to a T, just wondering if anyone else out there gets into the craft beer?

Close circuit to anyone with connections @ Summit- I am a cooperative project of a Summit cycling Jersey with a portion of profits going to MORC, or bike advocacy groups in general. Or if all else fails they can be greedy capitalist bastards and keep all the money, I just think a summit jersey would look sharp.

Brit's Pub used to do Scotch tastings. I worked one of them as a busser. We took all the untouched single malts and made a blend. ;)
