My name is Scott, and I am addicted to watching hockey.

So, I was watching the Detroit / Nashville game tonight and saw Jiri Fischer's seizure live. It was really disturbing. The game kind of shut down, and then all of the sudden the Detroit bench was frantically motioning for medical help.
Fischer had a seizure on the bench, apparently stopped breathing, and possibly went into cardiac arrest. You couldn't see him, but could tell he was getting the business by the medical staff. They busted into chest compressions while the Yzerman and another Red Wing skated a gurney across the ice as fast as they could. It was weird seeing supertoughguy Brendan Shanahan with tears rolling down his cheeks. Scary stuff.
They ended up calling off the game after going to the first intermission with 7:50 left in the first period.
Last word had it that Fischer was in stable condition in a Detroit hospital. Good news for him.
