I had a friend at work tell me that the teeter at Memorial Trail is getting hung up on a log knot so that it isn't teetering. He said he made it to the end and instead of smoothly letting him down, it didn't drop, so he was stopped at the end still in the air, then it dropped suddenly. He crashed out and has a stem impression in a spot you shouldn't have a stem impression.

Just a heads up. He also mentioned that he thought the boards supporting the pivot were cracked, which was part of the problem.

This is second hand info, but from a reliable source.

stem impressions are generally a bad thing.

Thanks for the heads up. The next time I can get up there I will look into it.

Thanks for the heads up Scott.

I went up there after work and the teeter was completely off of it's pivot (but still resting on the pivot, so it pivoted... if that makes sense). Not good. The deck of the teeter is now on the ground, and brush is piled up in front of the pivot (which I couldn't get out) to make it a bit more obvious that something is wrong.

Thanks again, and I hope the stem imprint that your friend got was just a bruise and not anything more sinister.

He was still walking around, and he didn't appear to be hobbling, so it couldn't have been that bad.

Looks like we might have to beef up the teeter a little! Maybe the teeter deck could be looked at in someone's garage this winter (in case it needs repairs) and the pivot mounts can be repaired in the spring? Just a thought. Gus, we'll have to sit down and plan out some new trail for next year. I know you have some ideas already. I think you have my cell #. Give me a call some weekend and I can run down to RW.
