Last nights ride was so good I wanted to beat Bob to the punch and start advertising next week's early.
We had around 14 people last night... lets go for even more!
Soon we'll get into that nasty freeze-thaw period where the trail gets slick even when it doesn't rain, so lets take advantage while we can still put the hammer down out there.

Joel and I rode tonight and were the only ones out on the trail....
Well except for the 2 high school girls out on the bigger trail doing something... I think they were planning a surprise for someone as they had a big homemade lighted sign and some other things....
Beautiful night for riding and I was very suprised to be the only ones there...
Hopefully everyone was riding elsewhere...
I should be there next week, I hope....

 ;) :p :cheesy: everything can be expressed in smilies:banana: <EVERYTHING class=inlineimg title=Banana alt=\"\" border=\"0\" src="http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/images/smilies/banana.gif" smilieid="18" smilies<img in expressed be can />
so lets take advantage while we can still put the hammer down out there.
I might actually be able to make it this week, although there will be no hammer, down or otherwise, used by me during the ride. Well, unless you count my head and trees, which I guess I do.

Looking at the weather this week, it should be dry. Then again, when do we ever get a good weather forecast in this state??.....:)

I will be there if the rain holds off.
Maybe two weeks in a row without crashing or breaking my bike? No way! I have better odds of winning the lottery or being elected as pope.

If I get over my current sickness, I will be there. Not too much time left without snow riding.:crazy2:

Seeing as how Thanksgiving is a Thursday and there is a descent chance of snow, we could have a night snow ride to work off the 3 pieces of pie.
If I get over my current sickness, I will be there. Not too much time left without snow riding.:crazy2:

If Mara is showing up on Thursday I will certainly be there (You don't have to bring Shad do you  ). See everyone there.

Yippee! Go Team Inbred!
(Although I must warn you the chick part of Team Inbred slows down a LOT when it starts getting cold out -- you'd think I was ectothermic or something!)

Rumor has it that if we get more than 15 people at this Thursday's ride that there might be a return of the popcorn balls....

That would be excellent! Now, all we need is to have your lovely bride join us on the ride. Note: She would not be the only girl, since Mara also plans to be there.

MisterClaw (Matt K.) just contacted me telling me he now has lights and spares to loan me so we're both in for tomorrow night as well. This will be first night ride for both of us (I think, me for sure) so be gentle. See you tomorrow eve.

I might actually try to make it, though I probably won't know anyone there. I don't think I'll be dropping the hammer, because I'm not that fast. Or not that motivated. Or both.
Is everyone else in this group a blazingly fast rider?

No, so come ride with us. It's more of a fun social thing than a hammer thing....:)

Don't worry, I'll be there and I'm slow as heck! I'm always way behind the group. It would be great to have a few slow riders out there to ride with! So all you slow riders show up Thursday night and we'll have a pack of our own!
Let's hear it for the slow group! World, or at least Lebanon, domination can be ours! :D

All I know is that the slow people never seem to show for the Leb night ride, but I've had plenty of people to ride with on the Salem night ride. Oh well, maybe I'll be lucky tomorrow night!

We try take it slow, but sometimes end up going a little faster than we planned.
We do stop at regular intervals and let the group catch up though - and there is NO PRESSURE at all if someone is slower... in fact I encourage everyone to keep a safe pace and not fall into the pace thats up front. I hope there aren't people that are not showing up because of this - really, its not as bad as it sounds... and we could use a slower pace. A few select individuals should just NOT lead (at least not all the time anyway..) ;)
Please - everyone - show up, don't worry - this is not an expert only thing. All skills and all speed welcome. The more the better, in fact the more that show up the better chance that we'll all have more fun!

Depending on how many people show up, we might also consider breaking off into two groups, as we have sometimes done in the past.
However, it is important to know how many people are in each group. In case of a crash or mechanical, we don't like to leave folks out on the trail to get eaten by wild animals that escaped from the zoo.

Popcorn balls on the other hand, I seem to have eaten a few.

I almost went for Mammoth tonight but will show at Leb. It's a great group ride. I'll be early tonight (5pm) riding a few laps then falling in to group ride @ 6:30pm.
The best thing about the Leb group night ride was the frequent stops to gather all riders. No one cares about speed. It's the train of lights through the woods, the group gathering "night sunlight effect" (with so many lights it's as if the sun comes out @ night!) Additionally, the chit chat at each stop was almost as good the ride itself. Charge the lights, grab the layers and equip and get out!

What a beautiful night for a ride. I don't think that I drank enough water last night, in combination with having dressed too warm, I woke up this morning with a pounding headache. I guess I could have done without the knee warmers!
There was a really good size group of riders (25?) to start made up of some familiar faces and some new people. As the ride progressed, we lost a few people along the way and by the time we finished a second lap, we were down to maybe half of what we had originally started with.
All in all, it was a very pleasant ride... I was a little clumsy on the bike at times having to clip out of my pedals a little more than normal. My apologies to those of you who were riding behind me, I'm a little slow on some of the obstacles. Night riding with lots of leaves on the ground certainly makes for a challenging experience.
Capped off the night with a nice selection of community beverages and some awesome popcorn balls provided by our leader extraordinaire, Mr. Lundell. We'll see everyone next week then?

Great ride last night. Who are the fast guy's and can they slow down a little! What a pace we had again last night. And the number of riders is growing week by week. That was my last Thursday night ride for the season. Keep em going strong without my slow a$$! I'll see you all at Salem on Tuesday nights. Oh, and John, can't say enough about those balls. Thanks for a great early season night rides.

To answer Bob's ?, I start my Thursday night hockey on Nov. 10. I'll be playing on Thursdays and Sundays. So last night was my last hoorah on the bike at Leb for awhile. JJ I hope all is well with you today. I know you'll get even with that log next week.

It was definitely a good ride last night. I really started sucking wind halfway around the first loop, though, when everyone started going faster. I feel like I'm totally out of shape or something, and I'm actually pretty embarrassed that I couldn't keep up. On the plus side, last night was the first time I've ever ridden the XX Loop -- and at night, no less.
Thanks, John, for bringing the sticky popcorn balls.

Traffic really was bad getting there. I did not get to the parking lot until 6:45 and on the trail around 6:50. I finally caught up with everyone at the entrance to the expert loop. Passed Mara on the way, thinking back I should have slowed down and just enjoyed the night. Anyway, I have always enjoyed riding at night more than riding during the day since I seem to ride faster and react faster.
Never really got to hook up with anyone since I was the last in line. Either way had a blast as the night was perfect for riding. Probably was a good thing to ride in the back as one of the single speeders was having problems near the end and was able to help out a little.
When we finished a little after 9:00 I saw the Sheriff truck so I thought he was shutting the gate. I rode to the car, packed up and went home. Would have liked to stick around and enjoy a beer and balls.

Speaking of the sheriff - he stopped to talk for a bit. (although would not accept a popcorn ball..) Said that some mountain bikers had poached Lebanon during deer hunting hours.
I know there are moron bikers, but that takes the cake...
Said a hunter had em' in his sights as they rode by... I know those people likely don't read the forums, but I thought it would be interesting to share that little tidbit with ya'll...

Thanks all my bike is doing fine. I am a little sore today mostly my shoulder as that took most of the impact. Not sure what happened other than taking a nasty spill on a small obstacle. I can't remember last time I went over the bars, way of the trail gods last night. Going to take a few days off the bike and work starting now. Thanks to Shad for the ride home and the jabs about needing a suspension fork. See ya all soon I hope.
