Hey Wirth riders,
Two carsonite MTB signs were removed from the trail. I found them at about 3:30 this afternoon, at the 'Y' at the beginning of the north loop. One was laying on the ground and one was actually stuck back in the ground so the arrow was pointing the wrong way...

I figure it's either someone that likes to ride the trail the opposite direction, someone that wants to cause a collision between riders, or simply a vandal.

Whatever the case, it's a really selfish move.

If you see anyone messing with a carsonite sign, call 911.

At the very least, report it to the park police or MPRB, send me a PM, or post it up here. Get a description of the person (and the bike - if they have one), and the time/day you saw them.

Removing/relocating signs is considered vandalism and could be a safety issue.

Thanks!!!

That drives me nuts. Why would someone actually go through all of the trouble of removing it? For what purpose? And replanting it just seems idiotic.

That's it. I'm going down to Brownie after work and taking down those "MORC Keep Out" signs. That'll show them.

The big issue here is that the Theo trail is not just a MORC/MOCA thing, it's also an MPRB thing. It's a pilot project, but and approved pilot project which is soon to be approved by the city of Minneapolis. If it was some rogue trail, I might see why vandals would do this stuff, but it's not. It is part of the park system now and a Minneapolis attraction.

So anyone messing with signs or any other part of the trail is taking a serious risk. Think of it as removing and turning around a One Way street sign.....it is that serious.

Please do as Pete suggested and report any activity you see like this. It is a crime.
