I received the following message this morning from Mark Spinler up in Grand Marais. If you want to preserve moutain biking in the Superior National Forest, contact the Forest Supervisor, Jim Sanders, at:
Supervisor Jim Sanders
Superior National Forest
8901 Grand Avenue Place, Duluth, MN 55808

Email: r9_superior_NF@fs.fed.us (r9_superior_NF@fs.fed.us)
From Mark S.
"You need to be aware of the major changes effecting trail use here in
the Superior National Forest. The forest service is making a policy
regarding ohv use on forest roads that is nearing maturity and will
have a profound effect on mountain bike use on these same trails. The
current atv map that has been developed here uses many of the same
roads that we have been riding on for years. This is the map that is
given to visiting atvers when they ask about places to ride. I
believe that promoting to atvers will eventually make it unpleasant
or impossible to ride these trails. Please consider writing a letter
to the forest supervisor expressing your concerns if you believe the
same.
Sincerely,
Mark Spinler
Superior North Outdoor Center"
Help protect our riding in the National Forests!
Thanks,
Hans
