Due to work related issues, we haven't been able to organize everything well enough to fix the bridge properly for this weekend. It's taped off, and there are plenty of options really close to the bridge for making a nice loop, so if people are riding it shouldn't really affect things too much.
Tentative plans are in the works for a trail work session NEXT Saturday. (would be the 29th) More details to follow from the man, Gus, when he gets a chance.

P.S. CRAP! I might have to miss that as I actually have plans! Hopefully we'll be able to get an early enough start (sorry hunters) that it can be finished up before noon.

Isaac- Sorry I didnt get a hold of you this past weekend. I was busy clearing xc ski trail with my Dad. Not sure if I can help out next weekend as I have to pick up the girlfriend from the airport.

No worries Porter. I'm actually looking forward to the XC ski season this year (after not going for the past 5 years or so). Just a few more weeks with weather like it's been, and then frigid and snowy and I'll be happy.

Sweet... I'll be there Friday for sure. I'll know more a bit later how much I'll be able to help out Sat.
If I get the chance tomorrow, should I bring the lumber down to the work area?

Check your PMs Larry. I'll give you Gus's cell phone number. I think we're gonna work until about 6 or 6:30 but not sure (though if you want to work slightly late, I have a headlamp too, so can hang around later than Gus - though I don't really have any cordless drills).
Gus will be up there at 10 tomorrow morning as well.

got the message. My free time is falling apart for me for tonight, but I will be in contact with Gus and see if I can make it tonight or tomorrow.
My offer of tools still stands if I have things you need.

We're actually changing plans slightly again since I can't make it after like 10 am. Gus and I (and maybe a couple others????) will be up at the trailhead at 7:30. In the morning. Golly that's early.
We got about 8 feet of railing done tonight, and have a plan going forward. Tools that would be helpful if you can make it: Something that cuts a long angled cut down a 2X4... maybe a cordless drill/driver... a pencil...

I don't believe it has been completed, yet.

Porter,
Negatory on the bridge completion. We're in the home stretch. It is 2/3 of the way complete (the entrance, middle flat section) and Larry angle cut the remaining 2x's. I think it will just take a couple of hours to slap up the uprights and fill in the side rails. It's my hope to get up there this weekend to finish it off (and make sure the now down teeter is off of the ground so it doesn't freeze in over the winter).
Thanks all for the patience.

Ok... took this afternoon off and hiked up to the bridge and finished it off. Thanks to Larry for cutting those uprights, it was easy with the right tools. There may be a little bit of cosmetic work yet to do, but should be good to go.
Side note: the trail is a little soft, but not too bad... a nice leisurely paced ride probably would do no harm to the trail, just watch out for the piles of leaves. Also, you'll probably want to park at the golf course if anyone plans on riding yet this year. I think the city has closed the main gates for the year.
