I was cleaning out my wallet and noticed my membership expires at the end of the month.

Does MORC send out a renewal notice? Also has MORC looked into having evergreen memberships where a person’s membership would be renewed automatically.

Also, I think you should charge more for membership. For the amount of work that MORC does in building and maintaining trails the price is a steal. I mean look how much a cross country ski pass is and it’s mandatory! <O:p

A renewal reminder letter should be on its way to you. We are working on some software that will send out email reminders automatically.

We just raised membership from $20 to $25 for basic membership. Feel free to contribute more.

We do send out renewal notices, but it hasn't been one of our strongest points. It's high on the list of things to fix for '06 (sweet rhyme).

Evergreen membership. It hadn't made our radar. Are you aware of any groups that do this and how they might implement it? Is it like a recurring charge on a credit card?

Membership dues. The "beauty" of the ski pass is that it is mandatory. They can charge more because you have to buy one. MORC has to provide compelling value to get its user base to join. At $25, we're not high, not low, kind of in the middle. Nationally, we're on par with what other clubs are charging for memberships. On a related note, since we redid our membership levels, we have had a lot more people joining at a higher level than the base membership.

Thanks for the kind words about the work we've been doing. It's nice to get the positive feedback to balance out the whining from the 6 people that don't like what we're accomplishing and prefer their own approach of... of... hey wait, what is their approach? Oh yeah, consequenceless complaining followed by healthy doses of inaction. I think they're onto something!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll put my $$ where my mouth is and renew at a higher level. :etard:

I’m not really familiar with the nonprofit world, so I’m not sure if it’s being used, but I think public radio hits my cc once a year. I should check my statements more often to confirm this. I believe it could be handled at the merchant services level but then again I’m not sure.

Which one? There is the 3 Rivers Pass, last year they made you buy a parking permit (even though they decided a month later that all parking is free), that was $40, then you could qualify for the yearlong ski pass, $25. Then there is the DNR pass (if you want to ski at State Parks and many other areas in the state), I think another $25. If you want to go downhill skiiing/snowbarding somehere decent you are looking at $30 - $50 perday, but that is understandable. So, yes, biking is a better deal than skiing in terms of dollar costs to teh end user.

The best part is that it didn't snow last year!:crazy2:

I got my membership card a few weeks back and forgot to mention that it is really nice to have more than a slip of paper in my wallet to show that I'm a member. Cool stuff guys!

Ha! It was you!!!

Brandon and I were trying to figure out how to approach yours and a couple others' family memberships. It's legit. We track our membership numbers including family members, so when we saw your family membership with no family members, 1) we wanted to know if you wanted their names added to the membership 2) we are looking to see if there are members out there that we're not accouting for. Adding their names, if you choose, will not impact your, or them, in any way. We don't sell or give out our membership database.

Thanks for the family membership, btw!
