Has anyone actually tried this thing? http://www.bikepartsusa.com/product_info.phtml?p=01-169484&large=1

I saw it mentioned in the dog post.

Or http://www.springerusa.com/

If so could you tell me if they worked well?

With the first one does the dog learn to stay away from the wheel by trial and error?

I am looking at taking her to lake elmo and maybe on some shorter paved paths.

Thanks

I'd say it's write your own caption time for the picture of THAT product!

"And that was the day daddy said that Sparky went away to doggie heaven ..."

I actually own one but have never used it before, go figure. I have sold a few and the people that bought them say they really are only good if you are going for a slow ride with the dog on pavement or easy beginner trails.

I've seen the first one used before and it seemed like it worked well on a sidewalk or paved trail. Offroad, you may be in for a disaster.

I worked with my dog in a parking lot for a few weeks before taking her on a trail. Another friend of mine uses a remote shock collar when he takes his dog on a trail. It seems to work pretty well.

Really, the only way to walk your dog on trails, especially Theo Wirth, is off-leash and no closer than 30 feet away from you, running the wrong way up the bike trail with a 4 ft log in its jaws...

Does an ecollar count as having a leash on?

Thanks for the input so far. I wasnt planning on taking her down hills or anything like that

I thought they were supposed to carry sturdy small diameter sticks? You know the ones long and strong enough to get stuck in your spokes as they walk by and cause you to go flying over the 4ft log the dog just put down? I figure it doesnt matter how far away she is, as long as when this happens my back is turned so after I can yell at you for traumatizing my dog by screaming too loud.
