Since the "How to get over larger objects" thread has been up for ever, time to make a new one.

Wheelie drops are just lifting up the front wheel and pedaling maybe 1-2 rotations off a drop/skinny so that ya dont land on your front wheel or OTB.
On big drops I normally just go faster than lift up my tire with out pedaling. Skinnys are were wheelie drops are at since ya cant always get enough speed to make a clear landing.

Any other ways on how to do this is welcome.

These work great. Speed really depends on what you do. If you are going fast enough, you can usually just pull up the front wheel off of stuff without pedaling. But if you are going slow, you need to get in one good full crank. It's important to get in a full crank rotation so you can land with you pedals parallel. It's not required, but makes for a much easier landing.

So pull up on the bars, making sure you are bending your elbows like if you are doing a rowing machine, and at the same time pedal one crank rotation really hard. Doing these two together should get the front wheel fairly high and by keep the arms pulling and power on the cranks, you should be able to ride right off of the object and land rear wheel first. It takes about one wheelbase length for my cranks to make a full rotation. So I start my cranking right as my front wheel get to the edge of the drop.

This is a super good skill to have, no matter what type of rider you are. The only caution I have is to make sure you don't flip over backwards. Keep a finger on that rear brake lever just in case you need to hit the brake to bring the front wheel down. But don't do that once you are over the edge or you will endo big time and crash quite hard.

A little off topic, but what the heck...

I remember riding behind a friend and watching him fly over the handlebars right before he hopped a curb. He tucked and rolled and lept up with his arms in the air victoriously. At this point I was laughing so hard I almost crashed. It turns out that he yanked up on his bar to go over the curb while his fingers were gripping the brake levers. Bike stopped. He didn't.
