So someone normal would of gotten a frame and built from there, not me. I bought one of those cool two speed kick back hubs from Beau, now I need to think about what to build up.
So lets here the suggestions. This is just going to be my get around town bike. Nice and simple.
Stop in at your local Goodwill and buy a classic old cruiser, like this

What's the spacing on the hub? That might limit the kinds of frames you can stick it on... I think most of that old cruiser stuff is ~110mm. Tex's idea is nice, but those cool ol' cruisers aren't as easy to find or cheap as they used to be - and if you had that one, why hack it up to make something else?
As far as ideas, I'd say find an old steel MTB frame with some semi-horizontal drops, repaint it (or powdercoat), add some fat 26" slicks and nice high riser bars...
OR for the newer (more expensive route), a Redline Monocog frameset - that has the 110 spacing in the rear too...
OR maybe an old 24" BMX cruiser frame...

If you are looking to piece something together, I have a bunch of old cruiser frames. Anything from Schwinn cantilever frames and forks to old pre-war balloon tire bike frames. I am trying to sell a bunch of it off, as I have way too much stuff.
You can build these frames up with BMX components, and make some pretty sick cruisers.
Let me know if you might be interested in something like this.

Dan,
I might be interested in taking a look at what you have. I will measure the hub tonight to find out its size.
Yeah, Dan has a nice collection.
This is my commuter/bar bike.

Here are some pics, this is only a sampling of what I have. Sorry for the non-ideal pic, I can get better ones later.
These are Schwinn cantilever frames with forks-most of these are $50-$75 depending on what year and model they are.

Here are a few more: These are Schwinn DX style frames, which is what Beau's cruiser is based on. DX frames are a bit more rare, $75-$85 for these.
The black and creme one is not for sale-it is actually a complete bike that is disassembled for storage.

The Bendix 2 speed kickbacks will fit any of these frames I have pictured. Many of these old Schwinns were equipped with thise from the factory.

Yup, his hub came off of a Schwinn!

You guys made me do some thinking. I think there may be one of these frames sitting at my Grandparents house in really good condition.
I truly enjoy riding the old steel frame. It a pretty soft ride on that old steel too. Mine rides really nice though. Only problem is, since I put the stiffer aluminum cranks on, I have been able to put a bit more power down. Now the BB shell is begining to mushroom out.
Let me know if you need any old parts.

Make it a chopper and make the fork longer or buy a bigger one.

Hey Beau, I wonder if running a euro BB with an adapter would reduce the chance of mushrooming the BB shell? Just a thought...

Sweet bike and the parts description had me rolling! I have been thinking about one of these project bikes for riding around with the kids. Ya know, getting the XC trail bike out for a spin around the block with the kids never seems right. Let's face it, I need another bike!
Naw, today I just drilled two holes on both sides of the BB shell going into the cup, and added some short bolts! Next step will be JB Weld:banana: .
