Little busy just then (or the entire month) or I'd LOVE to go.

If you guys go at the end of October, you'd be there for the Moab Halloween bike fest. I was there for it years and years ago (back when it was the Moab Fat Tire Fest), it was a fun time.

If you drive out there, make sure and stop and ride in Fruita CO. on your way through. It has some of the best riding in the area. I would reccomend that you stop in Fruita on your way home though, because you won't want to go on to Moab if you do.:D Fruita has way better singletrack than Moab.

I second that! I've never been to Moab, but Fruita has just amazing riding. Everyone I've talked to that has ridden both seems to agree. I started plotting my 2006 trip to Fruita on the drive back this spring.

Like Tex said and Mara confirmed, go to Fruita. Moab's OK, but for sheer riding enjoyment and trails Fruita is better. I have been to Moab 10-12 times, mostly cause groups I were leading wanted to. I would try to talk them out of it, but they would always insist on going there. My advice is Fruita and then drive down to Moab for 1-2 days, do Porc Rim and take the 15 minute trip to the LaSalle Mountains, just east of Moab. GREAT riding there, as long as it isn't wet. Skip Slick Rock. Not worth the effort, IMHO.

What Bill said, with one exeption, IMHO, I would do Slickrock IF I had never done it before as it is one of a kind and worth doing once. It is possible to do Slickrock and Porcupine Rim on the same day, if you are in good shape.

I was just out in Utah riding this past spring. Moab is fun and I always enjoy myself there. Ride Slickrock, Porc Rim, Amasa Back, and the new Sovereign if you get the chance. We stopped at Fruita on the way back and that will now be the destination of my next trip West. It was great riding. Well actually, my next trip will be the Black Hills, but anyways... DEFINITELY go to Fruita though. You wont regret it.

I'll echo Porter's recommendation...

Slickrock (at least the practice loop), Porc Rim, Amasa Back, and Sovereign are some "must do" rides in Moab. Oh, and don't forget the Portal trail if you are feeling brave... ;)

If you need a place to camp in Moab, I've stayed here (http://canyonlandsrv.com/). The facilities are nice and you're close to the action right in town.

In Fruita, the Mary's Loop/Horsethief Bench/Moore Fun system makes for a very fun afternoon!
