well.. right now i have a trek 4900.. and i beat the crap out of it.. like.. seriously.. every week i break something new.., right now.. i have a broken shifter.. so im stuck in one gear basically.. because i cant shift up on the left or w/e, cuz ive bent those chainrings from riding at the skatepark.. and now after the 8ft drop today.. my rim is so bent it barely spins.. the tire rubs against the frame.. and if i land a little crooked my front brake pads go under my rim(i can probably fix that though)..

so.. im lookin for a new bike.., i got about $500 right now.. and soon to have about $650.. and i make $40 a week.. so.. by winter ill have enough for a good enough bike for me.. but im not realy sure what to get.. i really like the gt moto and giant stp1.. but i wanna ride em before i buy one.. but nowhere around here has them.. gravitylab only carries kona.. eriks. specialized.. and penncycle.. they dont have any dirtjump bikes or anything..

i want a hardtail, preferably $1000 or less.. but not somethin too big, being.. not the.. strongest kid around.. i can handle smaller bikes easier..lol

so.. i was wondering if any of you have any suggestions??? and if youve ridden the gt moto or giant stp1 please tell me what you thought.. because those are what im leaning toward right now..

i just dont wanna screw up again.. i wasted my money on this trek, and i dont wanna do it again.. so i need some help.. oh, and do u think theres any way i could like.. get penn to order the moto(cuz i know they are a gt dealer, right?), so i could look at it.. even if i might not buy it??

The Stp series is awsome, you can't go wrong with them. You should also look at the specialized P.1 cromo and P.1 A1

great bike for the price

I'm riding a STP2 right now, and besides my nasty habit of breaking barrel adjusters the thing is like a tank. I have taken it off 3-4 foot side hops, and I would take it off higher drops, and jumps, and still feel comfortable. As for places that carry them, good like, I had to call in a favor at my bike shop for them to get one, but if you find one, ride it, they are a really great bike, and will be way better then your trek.

I have a Specialized P.2 and have been very happy with it. Mine is a 2003 model. Besides some of the parts, it's held up quite well considering what I have done to it. I also like the Kona dirt jumpers. For me it would be between a Kona or Specialized. Penn does have the Fisher jump bikes, I forgot what they are called and I don't know a lot about them.

I beleive Ramsey Bicycle has a few GF dirt jumpers, beleive they are call "Mullet"

On a side not, the Mullet got great reviews in Mountian Biking UK.

Those new steel P bikes look pretty rad, affordable too. All I would do is replace the fork with something better than the POS is comes with. Steel is da-bomb, especially for standing up to urban and dj thrashings.

I'd stear clear of the Fisher dj/fr line. The parts on them are absolute ****, and for the money you could get a P.1 which blows the fishers out of the water.

My Gary Fisher GED is pretty decent. I've been very happy with it. I broke the cable adjuster off of the rear LX derailleur. The frame is solid, the Marz Drop-Off fork is stellar and the Bontrager parts group is ok.

The Mullet and GED have the same frame with different level of component groups. The Biggin's line has several models (Opie, Mullet, Bitter, GED) that would fit anyone's budget. Check them out. You may be pleasently surprised. If you'd like to ride my GED let me know.

Check out Gateway Cycle for the GF Biggn's line. They have the Opie and Mullet in stock.
