the shorty is for road, touring and "comfort bikes". If you think the saddle movement will feel strange just run some nice high volume tires at low PSI to get the same effect of the ST version.

I have the LT version, its awesome. I don't know if you really have 3" of travel, but it has a nice feel to it, and I don't notice much (if any) movement from pedaling.

Go 3" otherwise you may end up wishing you did after the fact. If your gonna be a bear... be a Grizzly.

I'd go 3' for more of a smoother ride over rougher terrain.

It's great when your seat moves away from your handlebars. Why not a 6" thudbuster? It'll be real easy to ride no-handed. You can get maximum movement.

Has anyone tried the White Bros. suspension seatpost? (air shock)

I have one (WB) I bought a couple years ago.
It has too much rotational slop for me.
I use a Thudbuster for long or bumpy rides.
Although LH is bumpy, I don't like it there because
it often feels like it's gonna eject me forward.

But whenver I plan on over a 2 hour ride I usually use the TB.
