Did anyone else see the bike that Travis Brown was sporting at MT Snow? It’s a SS with a 26er upfront and a 29er in back, hence a 69er. Apparently Trek is getting ready to release this bike in 2007.

Also, checkout the burly chain tension adjustment.

The new On-one 29er has sliding drops much like those seen on Browns bike.

It also sounds like they are going to this design on all thier frames along with rear disc mounts.

although Tee Ravis is a ninja of a rider. I really don't see the point in the 69er movement unless you already have a 26" frame and you're just horsin' around.

Why would you do that if perfectly good 29er SS options abound?

Besides, those rear cog guides are silly... I can't think of a single time I've lost the chain at the cog. Maybe up front in a 1x8/9 FS application, but never the rear cog.

I'd like to try it sometime. Get discs and a 29er front wheel for my SS. It has a Surly Instigator fork on it so I'd have plenty of room. Might slow the steering a bit though (slacker HT angle).

Might be kinda cool. A lot cheaper than a new 29er bike.

1x1. Looks kinda weird but did a good job of raising the BB, slackening HA and smoothing things out. Like I said, I cool experiment if you already have a bike to try it on but I don't see the point behind a "works" 69er.

Did your buddy keep it that way?

A poor man's 29er.

I agree, seems silly for a guy that could be riding damn near any bike made.

because it was my wheel! He keeps trying to buy my full 29er wheelset off of me.

Seriously, I'm a big boy that rides a KM off anything I ever rode my RFX off of. There's no reason to fear the big wheel. If SS is the path to enlightenment, then 29erism is the expressway.

I'd go for a 69'r - if it was FS.

Can't wait for the tubeless rims and tires to catch up on the 29's.

I'm thinking that a mullet 69er with horizontal dropouts might be the bike of the future for all you SS geeks (FS if you are shawn)

Hmm ... intriguing. Especially if you're riding a suspension-corrected frame, it'd be a good fit just to put a 29'' rigid fork on it and corresponding wheel. :) Poor man's 29er indeed!
