i was wondering whats the best way to make DJ's. does it matter if i use sticks for the base and then cover it with dirt? is there a certain geometry for a jump? like if the lip is 2ft high, it should be double the length?

my only suggestion would be for you to just go ride some dirt jumps and see what you like and then just go from there.

One thing we talked about last night at Theo was the length of the lip/launch. It should be no less that 1 1/2 the length of the wheelbase of the bike. If it is any shorter, you risk the front wheel being in the air while the rear wheel has not gotten fully into the transition yet. If this happens it causes many riders to endo off of the jump. Last year was a perfect example. We had to add 4 X 8 sheets of plywood to the launch of the jumps at last years MORC party. The current launch on the jumps Gravity Labs built was way too short and caused me and other riders to endo off of the lips.

So im guessing my 3ft. long takeoff ramp isn't big enough? I seem to do fine on it. "Of what Shad said below."
