Here we go again. Lance won, France lost. DEAL WITH IT! I'm drilling all of my rims to schraeder and losing my Hutchinson Mosquitos. No more Frenchy stuff on my bikes.

It's pretty pathetic that they are digging up six year old frozen pee samples in hopes to bring down Lance.

why is it that every time some one works and works spends every waking min. training for something then the sec. they win it is like 4th grade gym class all over again. you do not know how nor do you know why but damn it you know the cheated but the fact is you suck and you are pissed off becuase some one is better then you.
it is always 2nd and 3rd place who scream cheater it is never the over wait 4th grader who walked the last 95 yards of the 100 yard dash. why becuase he already new he was going to lose.
like this year at the 24 hours of afton i will get 4 to 9 laps not really sure it is my first race. but if Jitterjepp wins this year people will say he cheated becuase there iss know why a 5'7 guy riding a 29'er could do that well.
but unless the person who wins runs something like 27 laps i could care less what they get becuase i already know it is not going to be me.
but second and 3rd place will be likee that dude had to cut corners.
it just pisses me off when people need to have a reason why some one beat them. maybe lance has a super stealthy motor on his bike that must be it becuase i know i am a lot better then him. guess what he is better and you just suck.
we should change some things around.

When I first heard the report it sounded like this charge was more substantive than previous allegations, which were essentially beased on "hear say" evidence. But from what the lab said, it does not sound conclusive.
There was an article in Outside (I think) in which one of founders of BALCO was pretty convinced that a lot of athletes are getting help, and the drugs manufactured now are so complex that it is almost impossible for detection methods to keep pace. I guess they got lucky with THG, and stumbled on some vials that were confiscated in customs or something. Apparently EPO type substances are VERY difficult to detect.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lance has gotten some help. But I do not think he is alone in this.

Dude! Don't go saying stuff like that. You're hexing me. Besides I'm only 5'6 and I don't stand a chance with a bunch of bruised ribs, bruised shoulder blades and sore back. My knee is also messed up. I can't even sleep because no matter how I lay down I'm laying on a part that hurts and the bruised ribs are only letting me take half breaths when I'm riding. I wish I had some dope. If I were a dope head I certainly be on the dope. Not for training or performance but so I could just get some freaking rest.
No wait a minute! Are you saying I suck? Watch out for the trail troll who's going to jump out of the bushes at 2am and shove you off the trail and into the rocks. :crazy2:

Exactly.
People hate Lance for the same reason that everyone hates the NY Yankees and the same reason most of the world hates the United States. It's easy and popular to hate the winner.
I'm sure that every one of Lance's spittles, sweat drops and turds have been repeatedly analyzed for everything. It's pathetic that they are now digging out some old pee sample that *might* belong to Lance. After all, nobody can prove that it belongs to somebody else, so it must belong to Lance. Bush *should* stick up for Lance until he sees some conclusive evidence to the contrary.

I have come to know a number of French colleagues over the last couple of years at work. We have worked closely on a project with frequent trips to Paris and they have also been here in the US. The battles over our project shadow this type of attitude - it is odd. While I consider him a good guy and now a close friend, there is always a shot at the US for being the bad guys... even when I say Lance to him, he makes a movement like he is injecting his arm.
I think it wouldn't matter if we gave them film of every second of Lance's life proving it, they would still find a way to doubt. It seems like the French way even though I have realy tried to understand the culture.
I say we go back to Freedom Fries and be done with it.
This type of BS makes me care less and less about the TDF... then again all sports are subejct to this crap.

they'll likely be going after LL for his results in TdG.
LA's outright dominance of the cycling game for the better part of a decade simply makes the Euros, and Frogs in particular, feel inadequate as it's their home sport.
Ever see the faces of World Cup teams that lose to the US? The opposing players don't know whether to cry or shoot themselves.
If, and it's a big if, he is actually guilty, what then? Is he only guilty for 1999? If he was clean for all other races does he get those leaving him with only six TdF titles?
This simply shines a spotlight on the fact that the Frenchies have nothing better to do. If they can't win, they complain...

They did say they found 13 positive samples (or something, I am going from memory here), and they were not able to test for EPO in 1999. They were also able to go back and cross reference one of the postive samples with his medical records from previous examinations. I am not saying he IS guilty, but just trying to be realstic about the situation. Yes he is truly an amazing athlete there is no denying that. But you can't really take an athlete's word that they have not taken anything at face value. It seems like they may have a case here, at least enough to raise some questions.

But questions is all it will ever amount to. Without the ability to confirm the test with another sample it really amounts to nothing.

I just read another article on velo news, questioning why the results were publicized.
It seems to me," Ayotte continued, "that this whole thing is breach of the WADA code. We are supposed to work confidentially until such time that we can confirm a result. By no means does this mean that we sweep a result under the carpet, but it has to meet a certain set of requirements."

Whatever the outcome, I don't think it matters. If he did EPO, it was only in 1999 when every rider was doing it (lets be real here, it was a part of the sport like steroids in baseball). As fr teh other six TDF titles, they were able to test for EPO and he was clean. So go figure...he is a great rider...PERIOD. Whether or not he used EPO in 1999 in no way deminishes that.
This story is getting way out of control, now with the German newspaper article.
It's really sad and maddening. :crazy2:
On the other hand what was Lance thinking when he wore that Liesure suit last week down in Madison at the Trek expo.

All I'm saying is steroids are a part of cycling, and thats how it is. Unfortunately, Lance will take more heat for this than Hamilton ever did and he was actually found to be guilty. That, however, is the nature of being the champion. Whether he had drugs or not, he is still a great rider.

Maybe the Europeans would like it if the US just pulled out of the tour completely.. then it could be just their hollow victories to enjoy...
Or better yet.. maybe one more year of Lance domination would shut em' up.
I took the time to write a short letter to the editor of L'equipe. I'm convinced the French have no honor.

Of the hundreds of drug tests hes taken I think that the french would be convinced that he doesnt use steriods. Also him and the whole LIVESTRONG foundation, that money goes to cancer research and people with cancer. I dont think he would lie to cancer patients that he's not taking steroids even if he did.

My $.02:
Even if Lance is taking EPO, the biggest muscles in the world will never win the Tour, it takes a great team, amazing leadership, and strategizing like no other. It's not as if it's coincidence that Lance wears yellow for a little while at the beginning, then gives it up until the mountains come. He know's what he's doing, and if he doesn't, Bruyneel (sp?) does.
As for his team, there is no other team with another Hincapie busting their ass year after year to make sure Lance is always up front or safe. Ullrich and Basso are considered the closest competition every year, and there is no way in hell Vino or Kloden will ever work for Ullrich the way Hincapie does for Lance. As for Basso, his time is probably right around the corner.
The point is, EPO doesn't win the tour, even if you are taking it. It is suspicious that guys just get faster and faster every year, but training is evolving along with technology in the equipment. Seriously, wind tunnels?! So all in all, if he's taking EPO, that sucks, but no other team is putting quite as much money and effort into JUST the Tour, and for all of that, they had better win.

For the love of Jeebus Tom, he's a devout REPUBLICAN!
Wrong, if he tests positive on just this first one, they are all called into question by the general public. Who's to say he hasn't found the undetectable wonder drug, like the article in Outside magazine said the cheaters are always ahead of the regulators.

France Opens Museum of Lance Armstrong Fluid Samples
PARIS (DPI) — A newly opened museum allows visitors to see the thousands of liters of bodily fluids extracted from Lance Armstrong for drug testing during his seven years as Tour de France champion. "The Blood Wing is beautiful, but the Hall of Urine offers the most entertainment, for he was tested so often we had plenty to construct a waterfall," said museum curator Marcel Thierry. The museum is free, unless you do not read French, in which case the posted price in English is 10 euros.

The Company that owns the Tour and L’Equipe has made a ton of $$$ off Lance and I’m sure their pocketbooks will miss him. What if this whole thing is a conspiracy to piss Lance off so he’ll ride in 2006? Nothing motivates Lance like anger. If it is a conspiracy, it’s brilliant and it may be working.:crazy2:
The seven-times Tour de France winner has also been contemplating a possible come-back at the French Grand Tour 2006 although the Texan retired from the sport just a few weeks ago. "I'm thinking about it," Armstrong told The American Statesman's Suzanne Halliburton. "I'm thinking it's the best way to piss (the French) off," he added, in response to French newspaper L'Equipe, which reported on August 23 that it had proof that Armstrong used the banned drug EPO in the Tour 1999, the first Tour the American won.

:)My wife has been telling me since the 2005 Tour started that Lance wouldn't really retire if he won, because his ego is too big, and in show biz, (which all big time sports are) people very seldom just drop out when they're on top. I was going to do a "you read it hear first" post regarding her contention, but I never got around to it.
Now his return is a possibility, and I'm hoping to blunt the "I told you so's" from her by sharing the latest developments right away. Ain't sports grand entertainment?

You should be ashamed of yourself.
What are you, on dope? Who gives a sh!t whether he's Republican or not. No surprise of course that you had to make this MY problem instead of actually contributing to the conversation but then when couldn't you resist a cheap shot. The article in Outside magazine pointed out that they have a hard enough time testing for drugs they already know about let alone the new one's somebody has dreamed up. Already I'm hearing on radio shows comments to the effect of "gee whiz he won 7 in a row what wasn't he taking". The general public doesn't know or care about the minute details about how the drug thing works and if Lance let's this go without fighting it his days as a 7 time hero are over. It does matter.

The problem is oaks have shallow root systems and are toppled by the slightest of disturbances...

Maybe you should try using that lump just above your shoulders. You should try adding to the discussion instead of inflaming it with your worthless verbage. Tom hangs an American flag outside his house everyday, not like that rainbow flag you stick out of your butt. His opinion differs from yours so it always must be wrong in the two brain cells you try to use condoning him for his freedom. When I was three I use to think the world revolved around me, so let me know when you get past three and you see that you are not that important. While your at it maybe you could shut the door to your world and let the rest of us try to have a little freedom from insults.

It looks like Lance escaped the courts in France, but his troubles are not over yet. When will he be able to relax and enjoy his retirement. Check out this link to an article on the subject.
