Night Ride: Lebanon Hills - Thursday 8/25 7:30pm
Start out in the sun, end up in the halogen
This is also your chance to laugh/cry watching me try Leb with one gear. (I haven't finished putting my good bike back together yet.)
Sweet! I've never ridden Leb at night -- could be a lot of fun, could be carnage. Either way, definitely worth doing. If I can, I will. :)

If Mara keeps loaning me her light.....I will be game for this too. Leb at night, never done it, but it sounds like fun.....

Oh well,
Won't be able to make this one. We are trying to finish off Salem so it is ready in time for the Summit.
Have fun guys.
James

Warning: Mini - hijack ahead !
Did you have good turnout for the weekend session? I'd be game for working on a weekend or later on a Friday evening if it would help. Six that far away is just too early to do after a really early Theo on Wednesday. My boss is understanding, but there's limits.
Now back to our regularly scheduled thread:
Yippee night riding at Leb! Maybe the bridges won't be so scary if I don't know how far I'll be falling.

Cool.
I'll charge up my old store-bought lights, and can loan them to somebody. However, they are only 10-watt, and don't hold a candle to the home-brews.
Mara, let me know if you need a ride anywhere. I think Robc will be coming through that area. I can drop you off on the way home.
Sorry James. Now I feel a touch of guilt for not helping you out.
Thanks, Bob. All I would need is a ride across the river on the way to Lebanon. I have a fairly decent route home once I get there.
The transportation gods need to open up Old Cedar and add a ped / bike lane to 35W. Silly car - centric culture. :eyeroll:

Turnout was actully kinda poor.
We only had 4 people total. We got quite a bit done, got some good riding in, and ate some good food and cheap beer afterwards so it was ok.
I would have been nice to get a bigger crew out however.
Oh Well, what are you going to do....

I can help you with that part if you want.

I may show up for this. Far be it for me to miss a night ride at Leb!

Sounds like fun. Burritos and cerveza mas fina at El Loro afterwards? Trying to determine a solid post-Leb source o' sustenance.

Dude....that would rock. I have yet to ride with you this year.
My work weather had rain in the forecast for tomorrow and Friday.....not good.....but we know how forecasts go.

Sunds like a great idea! I'm already charged up about the ride and the food...I better top off the charge on my light!

Now, let's hope that the weather holds out. Of course, rain means cancel.
BTW, I dug through by box and scrounged up a few extra lights that I can loan out. They are charging right now. These are not the ultimate lights, but they do work. Bring a seat bag to carry the batteries. I'll also see if I have an extra bag laying around.

About a 35% chance of rain as of 11:00 am today. That's pretty good, the rain seems very scattered. There is a front moving in tonight, which can make things interesting. But if the rain is scattered, let's just hope Leb is missed......:)
This will be a fun ride if we can do it.....so cross your fingers.....:)
I am currently in finger-cross mode as well. But you realize, the more we mention the chance of rain, the bigger it becomes. I'm looking forward to my first night ride of the year, and meeting some new folks. See y'all there.

Looking really good so far! Don't let my rain worries keep you from planning on showing up. Chances are getting to be pretty slight.
So who is up for doing the XX in the dark? It may be fun, but if the idea scares anyone, we don't have to do it. Hmmm, jumping the table with lights.....never done that one before......:)

Hmmm. In the past some unknown riders have done the night rides on the XX backwards. Who could that have been?

Dark? What's that?
As far as XX, usually almost everyone, although some go slower than the others. I often opt out of the camelback and ride over the log. That's almost a certainty tonight, until I get more comfortable on the single.
This will be great, as I haven't been to Leb in several weeks, other than for trail work.

No way :D ;)

In that case, heads up that the log basically no longer exists. Today I noticed the whole front part is so chewed up that there are only a couple of inches left that look stable...the rest looks like it could break off completely at any second. Just be advised; the camelback might actually be safer! Have fun tonight!

Thanks, but I'm not talking about the log ramp. I'm talking about riding right over the tree, between the camelback and the log ramp. I can clean it about half the time, and don't get hurt when I don't clean it. I'm way better at going over logs than at balancing while pedaling.

That's what I thought too, until I saw a buddy ride right over it as if
it were a piece of plywood! It looked harder than the camelback, but it really wasn't so bad.

Hahaha. I gotcha. Maybe I should try that route!

I guess we'll have to do it all over again so that Ted can be there.
This Thursday, 7:30pm. I'll start a new thread.
