You'll always want to use platforms. Never use anything that hold your feet to the pedals. Its too easy to loose your balance and not have enough time to catch yourself. Platforms are much safer.

It's best to use clipless and a bike with no rebound dampening in the front and rear suspension. That way, you can pump the suspension to bounce yourself higher over things and then pull up with your feet on the clipless pedals to get the rear wheel over.

Remember, always bunny hop this way and be sure both wheels leave the ground at the same time!

Right, Shad? :)

Don't get me started. Too many mountain bikers do it this way!!

It's not really wrong, it's just inefficient. You must bunny hop the length of the wheelbase of your bike first, then the extra distance and height to make it over what you are hopping. This is why I see so many riders land their rear wheels right into or onto the object they are trying to clear, like a curb.

Front wheel first, then rear wheel later will allow you to only have to hop the distance of the object you want to clear. At least with the rear wheel and the front wheel is easier to keep up this way.

Are you serious? DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS!!! Trust me, you will regret anything you ever try by doing this. Drop the suspension, and definitly lose the clipless pedals and switch to a hardtail and platforms. For sure the platform pedals!!

Did you ever consider that YOU are the one who is a jerk?

No, you did not.

I considered it. Came to the conclusion that yes, I am a jerk. Also decided it was fun. Lots of fun. Next question?

Oh yeah, part of being a jerk is interrupting other people's conversations. That's fun too! :p

What's so funny about what Chris posted......is I have seen many riders do it this way. One Urban ride I was on last year, some guy rode with us on a fully and was doing like 2 or 3 bounces with his suspension before each bunny hop......:laugh:. It was like....spring...spring...spring......sproooiiiiin g!!! and up and over he went hitting both wheels on the 1 ft high RR rail and bouncing over. He was clipped in too. I thought we were going to be making a hospital trip for sure.......:scream:

Didn't you ever play on a pogo stick when you were a kid? It's funny how technology comes full circle...
