I have a Cannondale F300. It came with a Truvativ Isoflow crank. I would like to change it out to something different, probably something from Race Face. My questions are as follows:

What do I need to know about the bike before I order something that might be the wrong size?

Should or might I have to change out the bottom bracket?

I currently have Shimano derailleurs but I plan on changing them to SRAM in the future, as well as the shifters of course, Will this matter or should I do change everything all at once?

Thanks

Well first you should know the Measurements of your bike.

A few things that I know: Depending on the crank you replace it with, you may need a new bottom bracket. Sizing and compatibility stuff...

Fancy new cranks have a built in BB, which is a cool feature.

You need the BB width of your bike if you need a BB, so you get the right length BB.

What's wrong with your current crank?

Oh, and shifters/der's (arguably) don't have an effect on the crankset switch, but the front derailler/shifter may need to be setup differently for the new crank.

Nothing is wrong with the current crank other than it looks plain.

As far as the measurements go how can I get that info? I've looked in the manual, on the Cannondale website, unless I missed it. Should I take it to a shop?

Thanks for the help so far.

If you can't find it, I know most shops can get the measurement, as well as swapping out the crank/BB, since this can be somewhat difficult, and buying the tools needed will probably cost more than having someone else do it.

Keep in mind that lots of people cranks look plain. There's nothing wrong with that, unless it's worth the money for you to upgrade it. I wouldn't, but that's just me.
