I plan on being up in the northwest part of Minnesota next week and was looking for some single track to ride. I will be in the area between Moorhead and the Canada Border. :D

Hmm, I don't know of any trails in that immediate vicinity. You either have to go further west (Maah Daah Hey) or east (Duluth) for decent riding. My folks live in Crookston and I just haven't been able to find any single track near their house.

Let me know if you find something. I'd like to know for my visits with the 'rents.

There is trails near Park Rapids in the State or National Forest up there. THis is probably to far away though.

There's riding at Turtle River State Park just west of El Forko Grande.

I've not ridden there but have heard that decent enought for the area, and it's worth checking out if you are near.

Report back, if you go there.

Yes - a great LBS is Paramount Sports, I-94 & 45th St. S., Fargo. It is a full-service shop with top notch folks. If you need specific directions, send me a PM.

I just relocated to Crookston (my dumb girlfriend picked UMC of all places to get a college degree) so if you want to ride when you're up for a visit, email: dumbbikes@hotmail.com

Brian,

Consider a trip down to Maplelag sometime for fun (www.maplelag.com). It is about 75 miles southeast of Crookston (north of Detroit Lakes) near a small town called Callaway. Maplelag is host to a MNSCS race and has some pretty intense singletrack. The folks there have carved out really tight, twisty singletrack mixed in with some fun, rolling ski trails. Trails will be open through fall before the start of the XC ski season. Be sure to check the trails section of the web site for further details.

I know it's not exactly a quick after work or after school trip, but it makes for a great weekend day outing. Have fun.

Eh, you're SOL... Not much in this area, lots of potential, just not enough interest to get the ball rolling...

Grand rapids has a couple of guys building single in their property, but that's about it. Maplelag and Martineau, which is pretty torn.
