I made it over this tree on the third try. It was up a hill which made it super tough. I was super stoked when I cleared it and it made my day.....especially since Ryan told me it wasn't rideable after I asked him if it was.......:)
Sweet post... and sweet riding!!
And with platforms!!

So I am assuming this at Mammoth and who is this Micheal dude, your personal bike mechanic.

Michael Haynes (aka: drakh) is the photographer.
The trail is Hillside. The tree is not a stunt, it's a down tree in the way and I just felt like trying to ride it. I am sure it will get removed someday soon.

Cool! Did you completely clear the tree or was it a kind of hop-slam? It looks a bit over knee-high. Is that about right?

This little stund Shad did costed me 2 rolls of duck tape!! (inside joke) You are the first person to do that, no one else is stupid, ahh...cool enough. The tree has about 8-10" off the ground plus the tree, ~14".

Shad - Nice work man! I ride Hillside a couple of times a week and haven't even considered that to be a possibility! The picture doesn't do it justice, that is a HUGE log to clear!

Pretty sweet riding. Very impressive. So when will I meet this man with the masterful skills?

The hardest part is the fact it's on an uphill.
I like this sequence. It's a good chance for a how-to since I like to do them in riding tips. In a few minutes I will have a link to a web page that will have a how-to sequence for those of you who want to try this stuff and learn how to clear larger objects.
Eventually, I want to start a website with sequences like this. This is a start though.....:)....hope some of you like it and can put my pointers to good us. I am on a mission to make all of you good riders......if you are not already that is. You don't need to do stuff like this, but my how-to will help people with much smaller stuff too, like log rolls and such.

I didn't get too fancy with the code. If you have a slower connection, wait for the images to load. I didn't preload them or anything.....yet. I just whipped this up in a few minutes using JavaScript Arrays.

Hope some of you find this helpful. I will also post this in Riding Tips.

That's cool. I do a slight variation on that to go over the huge stuff. I ride with cleats but it would work without as well. I think it is really like a trials lunge and it works in slow situations like uphills but it does require some traction if the obstacle is extra big.
I have wanted an optional section full of "impossible" stuff like this at Leb for a long time.

That would be cool. We could call it the psycho line or loop.

So I assume that since I don't have a bashguard on my sprocket, I shouldn't attempt something like that? :eyeroll:

Probably not something that big. But you would use the same technique to get over a log that won't hit your sprocket, so go for it on smaller stuff.

Are those dark stains on your right leg and right arm blood from the first two tries?

Nope, I didn't crash on my first two tries. I just didn't make it and had to put a foot out.
But, they could be leeches.....oh I hate leeches!!
