I just added a set of Rock Shock Reba Race forks to my Karate Monkey. (For the purists - Sorry about ruining a perfectly good bike.)

The problem is that when I turn the bars way around, the pop lock hardware (on top of the right fork) hits my down tube. One good fall, and it will break the lock hardware. For now, I've attached a big chunk of rubber to the fork, with the hope that it will stop the turn before I ruin the fork.

What I'd prefer to do is get rid of the lockout hardware, and just put a cap on top. As a nother possible solution, I'd like to add some kind of decent steering stop.

Is this possible? Any other suggestions?

Yeah DHers/FRers run into this all the time, I've seen tires zip tied around the part of the frame where cantact will happen, that should help take most of the blow!
Hope that helps!

There is quite a bit of info on this on the MTBR 29" forum. I guess there is a kit you can buy to change out the pop lock do-hicky or something.
