How bout volunteers to go out before the event and help Troy, Larry, Bill, John, and Greg, finish up on making the course you all will be racing on? The stuff out there is going to pinner when they are done with it and will be there beyond the just the 24hr race!

Let me know where I can help. Friday would be better for me than Saturday. Do you need the 4 wheeler?

I plan on helping John & Afton Wed/ Thurs the 25th/26th finishing any trail relating projects for the race.

I'd like to lead a pre-ride of the race course for those that have input on course lay-out for the race. For that matter, anyone else that would like to pre-ride and have input into the 24 hour course would be more than welcome.

From what I understand, historically John (Afton Mgr) set the course, with minor input from Morc. The current layout remains almost identical to years past with the addition of the Meadows re-route and a few other minor changes if we have the time to complete.

Please post up here on what date(s) you would like to pre-ride for 24 Hour course layout.

The 24 hour course is currently marked with red stakes and orange arrows.

I'm torn. Help out with Afton, which was my original plan, or head down to Camden St. Park and show a little MORC support for what they've got going on down there at the Camden Classic bike race. Wish it wasn't the same weekend as Afton. :cryin:

Wish I could help out but I will be in Madison for my girlfriends birthday. If there is anything that can be done Thursday or before I can help.

I've already got Friday off work and will help with anything you need except registration. People skills aren't my strong suit. :geek: I'm planning on camping out, so schedule me whenever you'd like.

Hey Pete, there is something you can do, TRAIL WORK. Yes trail work, we need some help to get this course whipped into shape. So anybody willing to help, we work every Thursday night out at Afton.

Pete, coming from your part of the state, it will be tight to get their in time for trail work. We have another work day scheduled for Aug. 13th. It is another Saturday work day. We normally work Thursday night's 5:30 till whenever. It would be nice if you made it out, if not there are many trails in this state that need trail work help. Hope to see ya out to help move dirt.

I had planned on actually racing this year, only I've had another back surgery this last June so racing is out of the question. I would love to help though. Let me know what you need as we get closer and I'll see if it will work for me.:etard:

I'm in. Put me down for General-setup on friday and the first 2 shifts of timing. (4:30-9:00) (This is pretty much the same thing that I did last year). Not sure yet, but my girlfriend might be willing to work the timing table with me also. I'll post up again if that is the case. I need to get back on my bike, injured most of this summer. Really sucks. Wanted to race this year, instead I'm so out of shape from being injured I wouldn't dream of trying. I'll see you all at the race!

I'll be happy to pick up one of the shifts for Saturday if there are still slots open.

I will need to be filled in on ALL the details I will need to know, as I have never been involved in this race, since I just moved here and all....

Still planning to be tenting and/or floating, with t-shirts, newsletters and increasing levels of goofiness as the night gets deeper. Not sure when I'm going to be able to get there on Friday yet. Pesky job keeps wanting me to show up and stay the whole day...

Volunteers,

First of all, thanks for being willing to help out. This event raises somewhere in the neighborhood of $4-5k for MORC. That money gets turned around and put back into trails through materials, tools and signage.

For those of you that are first timers to the event, both registration and timing are run out of Afton's Meadows Chalet.

Those of you working registration, if you could arrive by 2:15, we'll be able to train you in and be ready to go right at 2:30.

For those of you helping out with timing, if you could show up about 15 minutes ahead of scheduled time slot. The first timing pair will be trained in by myself or Steve Garnjobst. Timing volunteers after that will get trained in by the timers they are replacing. It's very straightforward, so there shouldn't be any concern about not being able to handle it.

Thanks again, and if you have any questions, please ask, I'm happy to answer.

Thank you!
Scott
