I always told myself when I buy a house, I'd set-up a bike workshop in the basement.
I'm looking for ideas for bike storage, or any cool workshop set-ups people have...

Here is what I have so far:

Because I don't have a garage I'm right in the living room in front of the TV. Unless it's raining. Then I always seem to be on the porch and I get soaked. Which is usually the case because if it isn't raining I'm working or riding.

Major repairs and rebuilds are in the basement. It is really nice to be inside with AC instead of in the garage on really hot days. This is also where I store out of season bikes. Quick adjustments are done in the garage.

This is where I do the majority of my bike work. I have had it for about six months but still haven't gotten around to putting up all my tools on the wall or cleaning out the shelving in the corner but...it gets the job done. I also store about five more bikes that you can't see in the pictures in similar fashion.

Anything that is super dirty, like restoration projects etc. get's done out in the garage (well its more like a shed hah).

Posters: maybe once the walls are sealed/painted.

Fridge o' beer: upstairs.

Neon lights: I want to work on bikes, not get a headache.

Bottle Opener: might be a good addition to the workbench (probably a better idea than drilling into my foundation walls ;) ).

My girl is working til 12 tonight, so I've got nothing better to do than drink beer, dig up some old thread and go take pictures in my garage. Enjoy:

It's the crown from an ol' busted up Judy reamed out to fit some conduit. I got a hair up my ass last fall to make a chopper bike, and that was as far as I got.

The gearie is my girlie's.

Wait, there's more junk on the other side!

Sweet! That guy lived two blocks from my parents' house when I was a kid in Rochester. I made all my first bikes out of his garbage.

Let's see it!

Living in an apartment sucks for bike wrenching, but at least my girlfriend is really cool about this sort of thing.

That guy lived kiddy corner to my folks place growing up in Stillwater. When I was older and had my license I was always amazed to see this guy riding around in St. Paul and I'd see him riding on highway 36 heading back to Stillwater. This guy looked old and out of shape but he could seriously pedal.

The other odd thing is I've never seen a trash can or bag outside of his house ever.....

It's fun to check out other peoples setups. Nice shops you guys.

Here's my little tucked away corner of the house. All winter wrenching and ski waxing takes place here. During the summer, the bike wrenching is probably pretty evenly split between the garage and here. Unfortunately not enough room to house all the bikes in the shop.

Here's the pics.

The entrance and tire wall.
Then two shots of the little shop area.

Ok, lets try this again...

Hi, I'm your friendly neighborhood crazy old bike guy and let's have our selves a little tour.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/scabbykeguy.jpg

On the right we have some titres and rims.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop1.jpg

I'd offer you a cold beverage, but someone forgot to get a new keg.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shopbeer.jpg

To the right of the fridge is some stuff. Yup I had # 642. http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop4.jpg

Just below that, you'll find more stuff.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop7.jpg

Moving right along, here's a bunch of frames and some wheels.

Naturally, the browser pooped out on the last post, so once again...

Below the frames there's a bike and a few things on the floor.
http://www2.bitstream.net/~nakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop3.jpg

On to the south wall and poor old Klein, along with other stuff.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop11.jpg

Further down there's a shelf of miscellaneous stuff.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop10.jpg

Are you ready for the obstacle course?
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop14.jpg

More obstacles.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop13.jpg

All those obstacles made me thirsty.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shopbeer.jpg

Where's that damn refill?

Old high chairs make good parts and tool trays.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop2.jpg

Here's the obligatory pegboard shot.
http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop18.jpg

To the left of the pegboard is the inventory control device. and mp3 unit hooked up to a stereo with big speakers. Ahh, who am I kidding, like I have any control over the inventory. http://www2.bitstream.net/%7Enakroach/image/bikes/cbg/shop17.jpg

Yes I do have a bike stand, but If I showed you what was in it, I'd have to kill you. It's pure chaos and I can normally find any part I'm looking ofr pretty quickly. Tools on the other hand. There's a reason I have 3 15mm cone wrenches. In the picture above you can see the nasty old couch which is really good for napping on.

I don't think so, th manitou down there is a bit newer than that. I do have a Mach 5 on a bike that's in decent shape. I was probably going to swap it out for the other one anyways.

Looks like a Manitou Magnum. If anyone needs a firm elastomer kit for a Manitou 3 I found one in a pile o stuff today.

The one on the Klein is a Magnum. Due to bad storage (before I ran a dehumidifier down here) it is now a rigid fork. I also have a firm kit for that fork, Still in the package. Doesn't do much for it now. Instead of geting the 3, I went for the Chris King headset and Salsa stem on that bike. Some days it's like a treasure hunt down here. ;) A lot of it is just crap, but sometimes that crap allows me to cobble together bikes in a pinch.

Haha missed it but I'll check out the link when I get on a machine with a sound card. Maybe I should go as Chuck Norris for Halloween. The joke will probably be dead by then...then again why do I need a special day to dress like Chuck Norris......then again I wouldn't want to upset Chuck Norris....cause if you can see Chuck Norris then he can see you. If you can't see Chuck Norris you may be one second away from a swift roundhouse to the head.

Crop circles are Chuck Norris' way of telling the world that sometimes corn needs to lie the f$%# down.

Sorry, kinda off topic. Pictures of my 2nd bedroom/shop soon. :)
