Afton work day: Saturday July 30th will be a special trail work day.
We will meet at the clubhouse at 9:00. Larry will go over the plans for the morning work. We have some things to get done before the 24HR. of Afton at the end of August. So if you are going to do the race, this is a great time to come out and help. We will be riding the 24hr course after trail work and lunch. Hope to see some new faces help move some dirt.

We may have another Saturday Session on the 13th if anyone is interested in participating. There is some connector singletrack that we'd like to cut. I'm not sure we can accomplish adding more singletrack and all the other work in motion with just Thursdays between now and the 24 Hour.
Unfortunately this conflicts with the Steeplechase Grand Opening... Sorry Buck, I'd like to get down there and ride, but this is the only Saturday I can work Afton prior to the 24...
Please let us know if you'd like to come out on Saturday the 13th to give us a hand at Afton... We've got plenty to do, but we like to make time to ride afterwords, so bring your rig...

You know that bottle full of worms little man brought home? We'll we figured out what was making the house reak....
Let's just say that water bottle is toast:mad:
I try to make it out for more trail work Thurs eve. or Saturday. The trail is looking less like a county road & more like a MB trail!! Yeees

Great job helping out on the new section on Saturday... I was thinking we need to name that section the "Ducan-Leo-Alta" Drop... Duncan is going to be a master trail builder by the time he's 16...
FYI... I put in a couple hours after our Team Ricco/ LCR ride yesterday firming up the fresh section... It is completly ridable. I added some orange arrows and caution tape. Once people realize they are coming up to a drop most should be able to ride it... We should consider adding an alternate longer route for those that don't like a little white knuckle action... We can discuss on Thursday/ Saturday...
This is becoming a true mountain bike course... ;)

Thanks for the tour, Larry. The course is much more fun than before. The pain is still there, but more fun mixed in. Good Job.

I did two laps this am. The cliff area (not real cliff) is in, it just wasn't marked on public copies of the 24hr couse. That's was why I was questioning. I left John a note to add into map. The course isn't slower than last year, I can tell you that.
I agree the newest trail needs an option. I had no prob but had to shift weight more than I thought I'd need to. Maybe we send non-option riders UP over and around the entrance area..they can take the grassy circ around (like it was).
It was dewey and wet this am. The log roll was no prob. Attack! the under pipe was no issue either. No issues for me. Love it. Had a blast on trail.

I redid the markings for the Cliff Hanger Trail yesterday. I noticed the confused orange arrows at the entrance. I confirmed with Afton/ John, he updated the map... If you can call our guide a map...
We could really use someone with mapping skills to complete a legit map of the trails...
I know what your talking about on having an alternative to the new "DLA section". We'll need to scope something out on Thursday/ Saturday...

You guys are showing your XC traits here. But if you think we need an alternate then we'll put the roundy-round back into the grass. Just going to be a mess when you get riders crossing each other at the top of the new section. Whatever needs to be done to put on a safe race is all that counts.

Obviously we can't cross up the trails if we are to have an option to the new "DLA section". My initial thought was we'd have to route the second option up a little higher on the slope, throught the tree line to the grass. Hopefully there is a clean spot around or over that water pipe.
"Magic", Saturday group ride... No disappearing acts allowed... Get your "XC" bike running...

Larry-
DLA section. Cool. Duncan and Alta are digging the forum.
DLA section, yeah you got the up and around idea. What about when the two come together? What ever works.
I have this funny feeling 24hr this year is going to be way way popular. The trail work is really starting to get attention. Free marketing has begun.
Can't wait for people to share feedback. Enough from me for now.
