The stuff below is from Jeff @ RASC: I may cover gas for the DH guys...more details on that after I talk with them.

Come, ride, and enjoy the hills and woods in this beautiful Zumbro Valley
setting – and get a good workout!
The cross country (XC) trails will be free to all riders during the remainder of
August. The downhill course will be free to riders on August 13th. Other riding
dates for the downhill course will be announced later. A shuttle service will be
available to return downhill bikers back to the start. There will be a $5 fee
for this service.

Rideable trails include:

XC Novice Trails - This ½ mile loop with mild gradients and minimal obstacles is
located on top of the slopes. There are also 2 miles of two-way trails located
along the bottom of the west hills that provide a nice ride. The service road
can be used for the climb to the top.

XC Intermediate Trail – A loop of approximately 2 miles is complete (it will
eventually be 3½ miles). The trail features elegant lines with some technical
features, short but steep descents and a challenging ¾ mile climb.

Downhill Course – We will open the 3/4 mile downhill course to expert level
riders only. This course has a 240-foot vertical drop and 28 challenging
features including a 75-foot log ride, an 8-foot cliff drop and several tabletop
jumps. Helmets and pads for the downhill are required. Please note - the course
is still under construction on top and on the lower tabletops. Speed will have
to be controlled.
The Chalet food concession will not be open so bring your lunch and sport
drinks. A grill will be provided for those who want to cook. Helmets and signed
liability waivers (18 and under signed by parent) are required for all bikers.

If you have questions or suggestions, please drop me an email. Come out and
enjoy the trails.
Thanks
Jeff

So if anyone wants to try the course and wants some one to ride down it with find me, I'd more then happy. THe deal from RASC says pads are required, I don't wear pads...you'll be fine just have helmet! And if you feel the need to walk any section do so!

Thanks, come on out and introduce yourself, I like to put names to all the faces!

how does the XC compare to lebbanon hills, and how does the DH compare to mammoth mtn, california?

how does the XC compare to lebbanon hills, and how does the DH compare to mammoth mtn, california?

that is like comparing apples and oranges...

THe closest thing I would compare the DH is to a super flowy track with a lots of table tops, the XC will be more challenging in the fact that it has elevation change, I haven't ridden it yet though so I guess you should come down and check it out.

PS: If you keep comparing everything to once expirience you are going to have a pretty ****ty time riding any where but there, but hey man different strokes for different folks.

Congratulations on what sounds like a successful grand opening to Buck and everyone involved in making Steeplechase a reality. While I get the point about not comparing one trail to another too much, I think that this trail is going to be the same kind of mountain biking milestone as Lebanon Hills was. It's proof that riders can and will get together and do whatever it takes to build great trails. For all the talk lately about XC vs. Freeride, et cetera and ad nauseum, this is a great thing for mountain biking, pure and simple.

And on a related note: The MORC pop-up tents (along with genuine MORC members to occupy them) are certainly available for events such as this, with a bit of advance notice and coordination. I hope that the play this trail has gotten on the forums helped get a lot of members down for the grand opening. I'm looking forward to future events at this trail. Possibly even to riding it, if I can work up the nerve. ;-)

very great job on the downhill course. i'm really hoping that i can get down there at least once more before snowfall. i never thought that this kind of trail could be built around here especially with those big rock drops.

Adam and the RASC crew you guys did a great job at Steeplechase. The XC trails were fun and the DH course was a blast even though I don't have the skills to get any air.
It's really nice that you guy's made the "SALLY" lines around the big stuff so just about anybody could ride the DH course. I can't wait to get out there again!!!

GREAT JOB GUY'S:banana:

Glad to hear that the place finally opened. To bad it happened after I moved out of the midwest (well, sorta too bad). Any plans for more there? Seems like w/ the lack of vertical a DS course or something would be pretty cool. Dirt jumps on top perhaps?

Doesn't matter how much vertical you have...matters how you use it. There are more plans, DS, DJ area, and FR area are coming...

Seems to me that it would be more important that the local club get all the attention.
