Well, aside from a teeter repair project we've been pretty quiet this year at Lebanon.

However.. the time has come to get people together to get some maintenance done. Trimming, de-berming, armoring and other general maintenance.. and maybe something really completely fun thrown in.

What dates you ask? Don't know yet.

Stay tuned and look for a couple of new faces helping out in the dirt boss area this year - mystery men that you all know and love. They will help organize things and should be posting more details soon.

Until then, hang on all of you who have been patiently waiting for a date and time to help out at Leb and give back to the trail that has given so much (fun) and taken so much (weight... and sometimes blood) from most of us...

More info soon!!!!

Hey cool,
Question for ya, will we be able to improve any spots? ie. add a couple berms? I'll do all the shovel work if it is O.K.
Thanks

Buck,

The first thing we need to do is some repair -- digging out ruts, roots, bumps, brush. Most of that should go fairly quickly if we can get a decent number of people. A group of boy scouts is also going to armour part of the dream trail (coincidentally, the place of my most recent crash). You might remember the kid who is heading it up. He was at the Steeplechase IMBA class.

However, we are also discussing a couple more "fun" projects that you and others might be interested in.

See now that is what I should have done for my Eagle project. That would have been a lot of fun. Not that the retaining wall I built didn't help out a lot of people but......:)

Actually a couple of the up hills could use berms...but you wouldn't know that unless you were going fast enough...;)

Bob - can we leave the roots? they add challenge. Having just returned from Winter Park, I have a much greater appreciation for rocks and roots!

IMBA suggests removing roots (for all but trees that are critical to the land manager, in which case we bury them).

Roots cause breaking bumps to form and destroy the trail. I like riding on them myself, but they do damage the trail so we have to take action on most of them.

Roots cause breaking bumps to form

So do people riding too fast for their ability level!

It's a real shame what has happened to the dream trail. I remember the first couple weeks after that opened how awsomely fast and smooth it was. Now major sections are a complete cluster-bleep of braking bumps. Is there anything we can do to fix/repair those sections? (short of throwing in more freakin log crossing, and other items to slow people down, I'd hate to see these sections throttled back, they are IMO the best part of the whole park...) I'd be willing to buff some of them out at a trail work sess. Rant over. Where's my shovel and rake!

& Berms! Berms will keep people off the brakes too! Yehaw!

Makes sense....but still a bummer.
thanks for clarifing.
