This is more of a warning than a riding tip.....but whatever.
I was riding Theo last night and got a little warn out (didn't eat right) and approached some things at a slower speed than I am used to. Well, since timing is everything, by going slow I tended to turn in too soon or not time my hops well. One instance is the larger log roll that goes into a sharp right and then left around a couple of trees. I took the roll slower than usual and then turned in too soon and nailed the tree with my elbow......ouch. I was fine, but realized I didn't readjust my timing for my slower speed. Later I hit my forearm on another tree in another section.
The opposite is also true. If you are going faster through a section, you have to time things faster and make quicker judgements. It's good to have lines for corners and such, but even those change with speed. So this is just more of an awareness thing than any. I find that most of the time I make mistakes and/or crash is when I am tired or riding slower through an area.....not always when I am going fast and pushing the limit.
