I'm planning on heading down to Memorial Trail in Red Wing this Saturday (7/16) to check out the sweet bridge the crew put in. The weather for the next 6+ days is supposed to be hot and sunny, so trail conditions shouldn't be a problem.

We could pack up one of the tool trailers with the pop-up tents, grills, tables and folding chairs and have a lazy ride and dine on in the park on top of the bluff.

I'm thinking of leaving Minneapolis around 1. Riding around 2:45. Fire up the grills sometime around 5, head home whenever things wind down. Food and beverages would be bring your own.

Who's in?

Carpool/convoy arrangeable

I'm going Saturday. I can haul 3 bikes I think and up to three people if anyone needs a ride down. I live in Farmington just send a PM or email.

It looks like my weekend plans are falling apart so I may be able to go. I'll know for sure in a day or two. Sounds like fun!

Roughly arriving around 2:30-2:45. Set up, then ride. Do you have a suggested spot for setting things up? I've been to Memorial once, and started from the somewhat isolated parking lot that was sunken a little bit off the top of the bluff, with the doubletrack heading out from it.

I would definitely be there but since I work Saturdays, I cant make it, but I do have SAT JULY 30TH off, and will be starting another thread on that.

That would be a pretty good option if you have a sizable (3+ vehicle) convoy otherwise park at the top and head down the road till either the singletrack trail access or the short blacktop driveway. who knows maybe I will swing by, I doubt I can keep up though

Darn, the one weekend I can't get down there! I've ridden down there the last two weekends. The trails are in great condition. I highly recommend the new climb out of the quarry section ( it loops up out of the quarry to cross over the new bridge and then you take the high trail instead of going into the quarry again) its a brute of a climb. Have a great time down there! Come saturday, I'll be wishing I was there.

The plans are I'm leaving my place around 1:30. That should put me at Memorial around 3. I'll have a pop-up tent and a grill with me.
Ride for a while, then fire up the grill and have supper. Leave whenever it's time.

Food and beverages is bring your own.

Is anyone else planning on making it out?

Rats, I'm going to miss this as I'll be out of town! Darn relatives, why do they want to see their grandkids anyway?!

Sorry, this is one local who probably can't make it - a 5% chance (goofy Bar-B-Q Days bike ride that my folks talked me into doing... no clue what the distance is but I doubt I could make it up to the Bluff in time to make a fool of myself).

Did one lap of everything but "Stairway to Heaven" and the "Quarry" over lunch. The trails are dry and fast (almost too fast). Only a little bit of overgrowth on the main drag (at the beginning, I think "Henke's Hollow").

Hope you guys get a decent crowd and that you have fun (and find all of the trails).
