There is some great singletrack riding to be had in Anoka Minnesota. Its in the Rum River Nature area that exist right behind the Anoka High school. To get to the trail I suggest you park at the high school near the track. At the back of the track there is a paved trail that leads either over a walking bridge or down towards the river. Follow the path towards the river and it will run you right underneath County Rd 116. You'll have a short climb and then you'll enter the woods. Watch the right hand side for the start of the single track. There is about 7 miles of single track and 4 miles of double track. There are lots of little turns and branch offs so explore or you might miss some of the better stuff. These trails have been kept secret by the people who ride there regularly but now the city is looking at land use plans for the area and the more people that get out and use the trails the more likely it is that they might stay trails. Also in case anyone was wondering, Mountain biking in the park is legal and the park maps list the single track as single track. Its a good place to ride with great views of the rum river and a few secret fishing spots as well.

Matthew,
I used to ride back there alot when Wheelsports was still open in Anoka.
the Loon State Cycling Team/club used to use that area for training alot.
I Havn't rode there in about 4 years, but am happy to hear it is still going.
If the City is starting to work on the master plan for the area, we might want to get some anoka mountain bikers and the IMBA Rep involved so that maountain biking can become part of the permenant plan and not have it turn into a housing development or a golf course.

I think that would be a great idea. There is also land that used to be used for a free golf course that is now abandoned adjacent to the nature center that has some nordic ski paths in it now that would be great as well. Also the Mayor of Anoka is a big supporter of keeping that land as a park and would be more than happy to have an interest group like morc or imba talk to him. Another interesting or cool fact about the trails is that the Anoka High School now has mountain biking as part of a couple of classes. Anyway the Mayors name is Bjorn Skogquist and he can be reached at 763-712-9434 or skogquist_bjorn@hotmail.com. Anyway it would be really cool to have representation at land meetings and stuff.
