Anybody know what happens with the commuter corridor west of Hwy 100? I'm thinking of running out to Dick's sporting goods from D.T. over lunch, but have never ridden further than Hwy 100. A map I have doesn't show much past that, and it looks like it ends?

Whose got a route for me?, thanks.

That trail goes pretty much straight SW all the way to Hopkins. To get to Dick's you'll probably have to ride to where the trail crosses Virginia (by the SLP Erik's), then go N to Cedar Lk Rd, 2 blocks E to Texas, then N to Wayzata Blvd. W on Wayzata (aka S Frontage Rd) to Hopkins Crossroad & over 394 to Dick's...

Or if you don't mind lots of traffic, you can take Cedar Lk all the way to Hopkins Crossroad, but that might be longer too...

Good luck!

Yeah, I found a better map at the Hennipen County website. Looks like I can take it past 100 a ways, then jig up to Cedar Lake Rd where the path crosses W 28th St. Then its on-road bike path out Cedar and up Hopkins CR. Sweet, nothing like a little mid-day ride on a pseudo-work day.

Aaron: You think your way is more traffic friendly? I could try that too, it does appear to be shorter - maybe.

Both Hopkins CR & Cedar Lk have pretty heavy/fast traffic - especially lunchtime on a Friday. The Frontage Rd is all twisty, so people don't (theoretically) go as fast - but there's less of a shoulder... I dunno - feel it out - if Cedar Lake doesn't look too traffic-y, go for it...

Made it back from my trip. Only took an hour-fourty**, including 15 minutes in the store. The bike path can be taken all the way west to Virginia, then jog north on that up to Cedar. Cedar had nice wide shoulder all the way to 169, then it kinda sucked from there to HCR and HCR sucked too. Going back I followed the frontage road on the south-side of 394 east to 169, that was nice. Then tried to go staight south to Cedar along the west side of 169, that didn't work!! That neighborhood has no thru streets! Eventually made it out. If I did it again I'm guessing something on the east side of 169 connects Cedar to the Frontage road, then one could bypass Cedar east of 169 and HCR north to 394. All in all a nice little ride, guessing about 17 miles round trip. Perfect day for a ride, man is it nice out!!!

And to all the west-suburban soccer Mom's in their SUV's; Settle down, I can use the left turn lane too b****es!

When you cross 169 going west, tun onto ford road, that will teake you to the frontage road and is lower/slower traffic
