As stated on the site:

What will the Firecracker deliver? You will find fast rolling trails and virgin singletrack. Twists and turns will keep you on your toes as you work your way through Lowes Creek County Park. Open sections will give you the edge to hammer past your adversaries while the singletrack will test your technical skills with tight corners, and obstacles.

Personally: I have no idea!

I'm looking forward to this! Sounds like a really good time. Especially since we'll be racing with the WORS guys. Some of us are making a long weekend out of it since it's the 4th. We'll be staying in Eau Claire and hitting a couple other riding trails this weekend.

I'll be staying in Menomonie. Where else are you planning to ride?

Sorry for the late reply - I only have access to these boards at home......

Not sure yet - is 9 Mile close by? For sure we'll be pre-riding on Saturday. Monday we'll be riding somewhere near there and home. I'll try to find out and let you know.

Here's my cell phone number 612.703.8209 Go ahead and give me a call sometime this weekend, maybe we can hookup.

Nine Mile is about 2 hours from Eau Claire and Levis Trow/Mound is a little under an hour. There is a place called Glen Hills just east of Menomonie also.

I will be pre-riding on saturday in the late afternoon, due to the fact that I will be doing some trailwork on Memorial in Red Wing. At the pre-ride(and race) I should be wearing a blue and white wolfchimp jersey and riding a bright orange Klein. I'll PM you with my cell # if you want it.

I hope they actually built some singletrack in there. When I was at school in Menomonie I rode Lowes once, it was all cross country ski trail.

There is some fun singletrack in Menomonie, just have to know where it is.

Good luck at the race!

Oh yeah I rode that a bunch when i was going to school there too. A bunch of us got chased off of some of it by a guy with a shotgun. As for Lowes Creek Park...supposedly they built a bunch of singletrack on the last 3 years. Thats the only way they were allowed to host a race there.

The firecracker was an awesome event. It captured every enjoyable aspect of competitive mountain bike racing. The venders were plentiful, coffee, hot food, T-shirts. Service tents for bike repairs, on site camping. The spaghetti feed for 5.00 was a great value, as was the pancake breakfast. The trail was so much fun offering challenging technical riding interspersed with xc skiing trail. I Liked shooting out of the woods and having a chance to recover or pass on the ski trails. The single track was well done, stream crossings, tight switchbacks, roots and off camber sections, as good or better than any single track at the mnscs races. The announcing was done with a flair, the awards ceremony reminiscent of days gone by with MNSCS. The trail run is a wonderful event to compliment the bike race. Lots of spectator seating, bleachers at the finish, what a great idea. I was disappointed at the obvious lack of support from MNSCS, if they were there, I didn't see them. I wish they could have seen what is possible and what they should be doing as our event administrators. We racers that participate in the MNSCS series are proud of our trails and our efforts. I wish MNSCS could attract more racers, perhaps we could learn from our neighbors at WORS.

I would have to agree. the mix of technical singletrack and fast doubletrack made the course a lot of fun. As far as the lack of MNSCS support...yes I thought it was rather strange. I have raced WORS for the last couple years and they have always done a great job. I think WORS will always have a strong hold on the Firecracker just due to the fact that it is on their turf. Anyways.....it was a good race!
