me and Tony (NewRider) were talking about a whistler trip this summer. It'd be a days drive and we would camp some where near by. We'd leave on like a Friday, get there late late at night, set up camp. Ride all day at whistler, then the following day, hit up C.O.P (Canada olympic park) if we have time. The whole trip would cost each person around $200 including gas money and food, this is just an estimate though. Whistler also rents big bikes for anyone that would want to give FR a try. I think this could happen if we started planning now. Would anyone want to do this!?

A day's drive to Whistler? 1900 miles from Minneapolis is one enormous day... Good luck!

Depends on what you're "driving"....I bet Liz could do that in a few hrs, even with the multiple stops she'd need to make for gas

I would be up to it, depending on which weekend it falls on. I do the kid swap on weekends with satan - oops - I mean my ex. I wouldn't go on the weekend I have my kids. Let me know though when you get it detailed out.

it doesn't have to be Whistler, I guess I never really thought throught the drive. We could do Vail, that would be around 19 hours, a little more do-able. If there are any other suggestion of places with good riding, post 'em up!

Colorado Springs is 14 -15 hour drive. Went there 2 years ago. And there are actual mountains!

I'm interested if it is in August. I would rather go some place closer than Whistler with the ~30 hr. drive but would give it serious thought no matter what the destination.

yeah, I think Colorado is more realistic. August would be when we did this. Vail is looking the best seeing it has alot of Dh and it also has XC for anyone who wants to do that. But, does Colorado Springs have any resorts with dh?

I live in CO Springs 9 months of the year for school and the riding is amazing. Everything is there. Palmer Park has some of the most technical XC anywhere and Cheyenne Canyon is great for DH. All the rides in the canyon can either be shuttled up for about 6000 (or more) feet of descending with only 2000 feet (vertical of course) of climbing, or climbed all the way up and then rode down. Let me know if you want some more details on the area, but I would definately recommend it. I could even set you up with the guy I ride with their who is the "guru" of CO Springs mtn biking.

East coast is a 24 hr jaunt if you drive straight through. I'm originally from the Poconos in PA and I go there at least 2x per year. It's a pain to drive you end up wasting two days each way. If you drive straight through your shot for the 1st day you're there.

Granted Buck is right, the East Coast has by far the best Mtn Biking / DH trails in the US next to Moab, but the time it takes to get there is a waste.

i think whistler would be worth the trip. Colorado sounds pretty fun as well.
