I'm shopping for a 1" threaded sealed bearing headset for my fixie - any opinions? I know Kings are the best, but I'm hoping to stay under $50. And of course, durability takes precedence over weight/blinginess...
Thanks!
Ritchey makes some pretty good ones if you don't want to spring for the bling.
Cane Creek also has some good, inexpensive headsets. As I recall they had a good one called the C2, for around fifty bucks.

Hard to beet a $h!mano Ultegra. They are relatively common at bike shops, sealed cartridge. I have one that has survived 6 years, 20k+ miles of neglect on my Waterford touring bike and still smooth at buttah. You can use a bit of steele wool and buff the lettering right off too! :)

S2?
Otherwise Ritchey would be a good choice.

Yeah, but neither Ritchey or Cane Creek make a 1" threaded, sealed-bearing headset. They both have threaded & sealed bearing models, but not both at once.
Looks like I might be stuck with the Sh!tmano. *sigh* Anybody know how much better the Ultegra is than the 105? Nashbar's got a Dura-Ace for $45 (looks sweet), a 105 for $30, and a Nashbar branded one for $15. All threaded & sealed... Hmmm...

Yeah, I think mine is too. Hopefully I can pay off my credit card enough to buy it before it's no longer on sale... ;) *grumble* Stupid bike parts, eating all my money...

Haha... Tell me about it. I dropped a couple grand into my road bike last summer. Now my mountain bike sucks and I don't have enough money to get a new one. Oy Vey.
