I was thinking of doint the MNSCS race down at Mt. Kato. I figure there is plenty oclimbing but i dont know anything about the trails. Is the race worth driving from Chaska for?

Just rode the 'Kato this weekend, trail only has one tough hill and that is the first climb, otherwise it isn't too bad, definitely need to ride the course a couple of times to figure out how fast you can take some of the downhill sections. I almost went off the trail a couple times and was awarded with lots of nettles.

When is the race there? I thought it was a 1 man 12 hr race. :geek:
I've ridden Mount Kato a few times, and I always enjoy it. It has a couple climbs, but it has a lot of technical desents, and tight singletrack. I would say it worth a shot, it was one of the better race courses that I remember.

You should make the trip (1.5 hours from Chaska). The coarse is like a little brother to Afton Alps as far a climbing goes (not near as much). The single track is much smoother overall with fairly decent flow through most of the sections. There are also some really nice downhill sections. It was one of the first races I put on my calendar for the year. My wife is also interested in starting to race and I have picted this coarse as one she would probably enjoy. Hope to see you there.

MtKato is a hoot to ride. I've been there dozens of times and have a grin on my face each and every time. There's one major climb, right on the front of the hill. Everything after that, well most everything, is jsut pure grin inducing flowy fun trail. There's really nothing overly technical except for one down hill(mad squirrel and its switchbacks). Its well worth the drive from Chaska. Hell, I'm thinking about coming up from La Crosse for it. You won't be sorry!
