Not in Hopkins that I'm aware, but right next door to you in Golden Valley is the newly-opened Theodore Wirth bike trail at Hwy 55 and Theo Wirth Parkway. Probably not very far from wherever you are.

From Hopkins you can get there via the LRT/Kennilworth trail. So you can avoid cars for the most part. The trail should dump you near Cedar Lake, then you can take Cedar Lake Road which turns into Wirth Parkway.:D

There were some trails in the big park at Shady Oak Rd. and 62, but bikes were banned there due to conflicts. It was a great area, but the damage was done before MORC was a force. It could be difficult getting those back. I don't think there is another park in Hopkins that is large enough to accommodate a bike trail.

No, there's nothing in Hopkins. I live in Minnetonka, and we don't have squat to ride out in the western suburbs.

The person was either talking about Big Willow Park on Minnetonka Blvd, and that pretty much $uck$. Then there's Lone Park, down on Shady Oak Road, and that is all off limits to mountian bikers. I think you can ride on the paved trails, but don't go in the dirt, it's a huge no no. Or, they could be talking about the BMX.skateboard park that's right underneath highway 169 off of Excellsior Blvd. That pretty much sums uup the extent of mountain bike stuff in Hopkins.

Well, then they also could just be talking about the crushed rock trails that weave all through Hopkins too. I guess you could ride your Mountain bike on those.

Let us know if you discover anything new.

I am guessing that you don't include Chaska as a western suburb?
