I've posted only three. Click each to view full-size. I didn't get any pictures of the chain cutting ceremony, but I did get the mayor almost clearing the log skinny qualifier on the Skyline trail! It's OK, R.T., the logs were wet and I would have had to bail myself! ;)

Here's a good overview of how it looked (from the back)

Many showed up despite the rain. Perhaps it was the lure of free stuff? :)

Looked like everyone was having fun despite the rain.

I was going on a trip with James in two weeks. I might have to seriously reconsider after this.......:laugh:

Can you find the two local BMX legends. Hint: One is diplomatic....the other just wants to play.

I did, I'll work on getting it computerfied tonight, there was a spot on the 5pm news too, but I missed that (a friend of mine called to tell me about it). I also have the 10pm news scheduled in case there is a another report.

Pete recorded them on VCR, 5:00 and 6:00.
I just caught the last 5 seconds of channel 5 as well, someone should try to catch it at 10:00.
From past experience, I would say we should be ready for some expanded coverage by the media in the near future. The Strib ran a bikeball story two years ago and we ended up giving interviews to just about every news outlet in town the following week.

Save me mpg4 in hi-res or dvd (NTSC) if you can and I can use it later in the Flash maps.

For those who haven't seen it yet, the article's really very well-done. Words like "bench-cut" made it in there! They even pointed out that once the rain got bad the riders left the trail because they knew what kind of damage they'd do to the trail.

Able.
Oh, and yes it showed a quick shot of Shad: the original beer-drinkin', wheelie-poppin' outlaw.

I also captured it and posted it on http://WWW.mocatrails.org :D
I had trouble capturing the video with Studio 9 for some reason so ended up using the psuedo-tool that ships with XP, so it is using whatever "highly portable codec" that is the only option that it offers.
I'm very new to desktop video, what are the weapons of choice for video types around here (preferable not the high ticket Adobe Premiere-esque apps, since I'm on a budget). Pinnacle Studio 9 came with my camera and works OK, but seems buggy sometimes.

I just watched the 10pm clip, it was much shorter than this one without much new.

What a great event! Thanks to all of the MOCA members and volunteers who made this whole thing possible. Even though it rained it was worth the drive to: A) meet some people from the forums, face to face. B) Get in a short lap in the rain (just like the good ol' days). C) Win a Cars-R-Coffins sweatshirt (thanks, Hurl). D) Get the lower half of my body on TV ( ). And finally, most importantly, E) JOIN MORC!
Congratulations to all who put in their time.

I like how Shad was made to look like a "beer drinking, wheelie popping, outlaw". That cracked me up.

How come I always get the negative publicity?
I thought that was so funny. I was like thinking I am all cool doing this wheelie, but instead, I am a beer drinking outlaw.....:laugh:

Sweet! Right before they show the beer-drinking wheelie-popper, there's a nice long shot of me coming around the last berm before the exit... Cool!
Hey, that's my fat a$$ right behind Shawn there! Man, that better not count towards my "15 minutes of fame".
Oh, and Shad, I really don't think of myself as a "legend" so much as more of an "icon" :scream:

With all due respect to R.T., he rides a bike in dire need of some upgrades!

It looks to be an early/mid '90s ProFlex. Not a bad bike, but full suspension and brake technology have advanced a great deal since that thing.

All –<O:p</O:p
I’ve put up the photos that Jennifer Ringold took of the grand opening at http://www.petermckinney.com/wirthgo/ (http://www.petermckinney.com/wirthgo/) . I also included the pictures that Chris and Pat posted here to round out the set. If you want to download a particular picture, click on the “supersize” link to the lower right of the image. After the supersized image appears, save it to your computer by using the right-click context menu or the save image icon that appears in the upper left of the picture if using Internet Explorer. If you know the names of folks in the pictures that just have a few people, let me know and I can update the captions.<O:p</O:p

P.S. Try as I might, I just couldn't get myself to include James' "girlie" picture in the bunch. :eyeroll:
