Trail work will begin on Monday June 6th at 5pm!! (future days and times subject to change depending on my work schedule which to still up in the air due to changing locations)

Sorry for the late start, but the tools were in use for a couple projects, and ive been very busy of late.

Trail work this year looks like the following:
-start off with a day (or 2) of trail clearing and trimming them tree beasts down.
-make the old uphill easily identified as closed!
-finishing work on the 3 re-routes
-finish the bench cut on the gully x-ing
-reclaim all of the re-routed areas
-next set of re-routes
-extra secret plans

So come one come all, get your Terrace dig on and make some trails come to life......and as always your input at time of actual work is crucial in getting things within reason in the trail!

Is the plan still to share trail crew between Leb and Terrace? If so, then why the switch to Monday?

Not a switch......i work late on that Tuesday and the one after is the MORC board meeting, so will be Tuesdays after that more than likely.

Theo crew is excused - congratulations! Everyone else, we'll see you there.

If you can't make it by 5pm, show up when you can.

We had 5 people last night. Got in about 3 hours of fix-it and finished a first-pass on the trail, clearing branches, trees and working on muddy spots. Thanks, everyone.

Just off of the trail, there is a huge tree down, which would make an awesome log ride -- about 30 ft long, 3 feet off the ground, with plenty of area on the sides to fall onto. It is already sitting in a perfect spot, lined up for an entry where the trail makes a turn. It would be fairly easy to make it rideable, although we would need to do something for an exit. Doug, we are chomping at the bit to hear if you get permission.

The trail is in very good shape.

Great group the other day (sry im a day or 2 behind), thanks for coming out!! Couple new faces to trail work too, Tony J and Pete R, hope to see ya again, and again, and again :crazy2:

Trail looks great as Bob said, there was quite a few riders out and about as well, so its getting some use.

Monday 6/13 there will be no "official" trail work. There is a meeting partaining to Terrace that I will be attending. However if a few folks wish to come out and do some more lopping of them face slappers you can show up to the trail at 445 and i can get ya some tools and meet ya out there after im done.

After next week trail work will be on Tuesdays.

Do you guys prefer one looong trailwork thread, or a day specific like i did last year?

Soooooo the night there is no "Official" trailwork and guess who shows up, the Redbull folks! Thanks for coming out guys (if your reading this) next week there will be more people out and about the trails.

The Terrace Oaks Park meeting I was at went great, got to finally meet some people from the area and learn there concerns and share a lot about MORC and what we do around the state and why we do it.

TRAIL WORK TUESDAYS from now on starting next week. I will be there at 5pm. Tuesdays will be the day from here on out, (except for MORC board meeting days).

Pete, according to the calendar, it looks like Doug switched it to Tuesdays @ 5pm. (Thanks, Doug)

Now, we need to convince Doug to move it to 6pm, so that we don't have to sneak out of work early.

Good trail work night tonight. We were able to complete the bench cut that was on the ravine re-route, it looks really good now that its done. Bob S did a little armouring in the ravine where water usually pools up, we will need to extend it later on, but we had limited resources in the immediate area. We also did some rock work on the top of the new switchback uphill, there is a "small" rock garden to the left at the top and the ride-around to the right. A few riders were going over before/during/after while we worked and it looked pretty good for all points. Might have to get a "rock skinny" in there for John M at some point too.

Next week we will meet Tuesday at 5 (after that it will be 6 for the rest of the year).

Four of us showed up tonight (Doug, John, Pete and me) Then, Perry was doing laps, and saw us hauling rock and thought it looked fun, so he decided to join us. I think I've seen Perry on TV, in one of those big guy competitions where they pull trucks around, lift heavy things, etc. With his help, we were able to move some really big rocks.

We got three pieces of work done tonight:
1: Bench cut along the new marsh area reroute -- looks great
2: Armour a big puddle spot in the marsh area
3: Add a new rock garden and extended rock ride on the new switchback climb -- fun

Doug also snapped some pictures of the potential log ride. He's going to take them to the T.O. park board for approval. (The ladies of the park board think Doug is a hunk.) If all goes well, we might be able to start building the log ride next week.

Good job tonight, everyone.

Did a little trail maintanence tonight. Cleaned up some sandy areas, did some light de-berming, scraped out them muddy corners from people riding in the rain, grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

We also watched as someone tried to ride up the closed uphill right in front of us (we were off to the side so they did not see us) He didnt get very far, then when I told him the hill was closed and explained why they kindly rode on.

Also met a woman from down south that grew up here. She liked the trail and was hitting up Lebanon Wed and then going for Lutsen. Hope ya have good rides this week :)

No trail work next Tuesday due to MORC board meeting. Following week at 6 for trail work 430 or so for a ride.

Hey Doug,
I probably won't be able to work since I'm home alone with the 3 monkeys, but I do have a huge favor to ask. Do you think I could stop by the park and have you take my bike for a spin. There's some strange knocking sound coming from the headtube area (at least that's where it sounds like it's coming from). I've taken the headset apart and put it back together making sure everything's good and snug and the sound is still there. Doesn't happen when riding on pavement, but as soon as the going gets a little rough I can hear it.

I think I'll head over to Leb and bring a few tools. In particular, I'll see if I can cut down some of that overgrown grass where the Dream meets up with the beginner.

I noticed a post from JL, asking if anyone knows the trail conditions. I assume it is too wet to ride, but if I'm wrong, I'll have a bike and get in a couple laps to see if any trees went down during last night's storm. If so, I'll have my saw in the van.

Hey Doug-

Did you guys take out the log going across the trail before that little rock stunt? It is gone now if you didn't, someone took it out.

Also, what we did last night looks good, lots of tracks across it and it is drying out a little. It hasn't really settled at all yet.

Pete, We (temporarily) took the log out several weeks ago. The old log had rotted in half and was loose. We cut a couple new logs and threw them off to the side, waiting for damp ground. That night, the ground was dry and hard so we couldn't have done a good job digging in.

For the new armor section, It will be interesting to see what happens with this rain. My guess is that we'll have to toss in a couple shovels of dirt where it settles.

I don't know if next week is at Terrace or Leb. Doug?? John??
