Here's an altitude graph of Afton. It's altitude over time. It starts at Golf House (top) and ends at top again after Shady Lane/Crown.

Includes: Deep Woods, Afton Gully from top, Birchwood Lane, Westward, Whistler, Mountian Crossing, Bridge Loop, Shady Lane

Does not Include: Southbound Crossing full, Southern Switchbacks, Cliffs Edge

Go ride it. Good luck and be careful.

P.S. web master post graph to trail description as appropriate.

From this graph that does not include all of the trail could one assume that there is more than the claimed 600 ft. of climbing per lap at the 24 Hours of Afton?

Yeah, accourding to the graph I posted below it appears more than 600ft per lap. Agreed. I've always thought so. The ski area claims 350ft vert. Considering how many times the vert is had on each lap (at 24 hour).....

I did the 04' 24 hour. The graph represents most of the 2004 course... Hmmm it appears my pops altitude watch is accurate...

Must ride more to be able to handle the alps...must ride more...it's the best near the cities for dirt intervals on da' legs.

I have mixed feelings on re-vamping with trail work...but I suppose some is needed for saftey and feasability. Trail work available, consider voluterring if interested, I am.

Well Heatth, come join me this Saturday May 21 for trail work at Afton. You work on the trail and might have some say into what might happen out there with the trails.

Having done the 24 Hours of Afton these past several years, along with many practice laps, there is ALOT of climbing. Interestingly, last year the course was changed a little for the race and the climbing seemed less, or maybe I was in better shape! :D

This year wil be my 5th consecutive year out there. The course changes every year. It gets longer and tougher. Last year it was changed again. They added an downhill section that ended with a tapered out turn going right back up the hill. So not only was another climb added there was also this downhill section that you had to go slow on because it tapered down on wet grass. If you were flying you would either wipeout or over shoot the turn. Either way you didn't get to use the momentum you built up going down to get a start up the hill.
